"Accommodation was ok and staff were friendly, clean rooms couldn’t ask for much more. The restaurant let the hotel down. Firstly when my husband asked about booking a table the first waiter wasn’t friendly. We ordered a mocktail which never came we had to query it before they realised it’s because they ran out of mint. The food was ok but expensive, not many vegetarian options. They advertised sticky toffee pudding which was actually syrup pudding with a pot of toffee sauce. I was gutted was so looking forward to it ask don’t eat puddings often. when I queried it the waiter they thought I was weird, I suggest you google sticky toffee pudding recipe! Great that children under 5 eat free but no vegetarian option on the menu, we had to ask, when it came out it was missing veg which was advertised. Breakfast was ok, although the cooked breakfast buffet had no vegetarian options and they used caged eggs! Shameful i hope they find it in their conscious to move to free range. Would stay in the accommodation again but would find somewhere else to eat!"

"A great stay, the room was spotless and very comfortable and the breakfast cooked to order was very tasty. The Palmerston Rooms are well located in the centre of Romsey and though straight onto the road we found it quiet, there is no parking at the property but there is plenty of free parking after 16:00 nearby in public car parks. We would definitely stay again if in the area."

"The hotel was at one of the cheapest price points within the city for a weekday evening but delivered a good quality spacious room with all the amenities needed. Impressed with the stay given the price, with good location for the city and also a good range of snacks/drinks available for purchase in the reception area"

"Enjoyed our stay with family, friends and dogs. The hotel were really helpful in accomodating us all for dinner. Food at breakfast and dinner was good with a good choice available and catering for all diets. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and modern considering the age of the property. Nearby Romsey is well worth a visit as of course is the New Forest."

"What a lovely property ! The hotel is located in a quaint town where everyone was friendly and helpful. This is a wonderful piece of England to visit Our stay was great and the hotel is a throwback to a time where hospitality was royal."

"Wonderful quaint hotel with all the modern amenities in the room. The staff was very accommodating we arrived at 11:00 am and we were allowed to check in and use the room. We stayed two nights and are going back in Sept. to stay three nights. "

"If you like to be constantly disturbed throughout the night and a gratuitous early morning wake up call, then let me tell you - this place has got just the room for you! Room 202 will not disappoint! Situated directly above the kitchen/ staff area, this room is perfectly positioned for a nightmare stay. Whilst in this room you can expect music and kitchen noise until 10pm and you will really enjoy a very early morning wake up (talking 5am ish) from staff preparing breakfasts, whistling, plates rattling, general loud kitchen noises and the smell of sausages. If you are really lucky you can expect to be woken up at frequent intervals throughout the night by staff emptying bottles into bins. If you enjoy sleep, don’t expect to in this room. It was quieter in the corridor. Booked for 4 nights, I was offered an alternative for the final night. I declined to move as travelling with a 3 year old involves a lot of stuff. We were also out early and back just in time for bed so it was difficult to coordinate a change of room without it interfering with our plans or our daughter’s routine. So be prepared with ear plugs incase they allocate you this gem of a room. They are clearly aware there are issues with this room, yet they continue to use it for punters!!! You would probably sleep better on the hard shoulder of the M271. I was looking forward to the quiet stay as per other reviewers promised, instead I’m knackered and looking forward to going home to my own bed."
