The Fazeley Inn

"The bed was comfy and felt clean. The shower was okay - the temperature dial was broken but fortunately set at a fine temperature for me. There was a lot of noise from the pub below as there was live music until around 1am, without any warning when I checked in. The window was slightly broken or ill-fitted, and with only a thin, grubby, broken blind rather than curtains, meaning that road noise and sunlight easily came into the room. The TV worked but the remote did not, so channels could only be changed using the buttons on the TV itself. The small car park didn’t have enough space for me to park, but fortunately the man at the fuel station allowed me to park overnight on the forecourt. The room overall was cheap and largely okay, but my sleep was significantly disturbed so I would not stay here again or recommend it to others."

"Hi everyone. They ran out of beer by the bottle and also I ordered takeaway coffees but they ran out of lids for the extra coffees but they never told us until I paid for them. So in the morning we had to get into the car ride the bumps with the coffees spilling all over so we had to bin them & carry on with my day. Although the staff were very polite & friendly as normal but on this occasion it wasn’t my best visit."

"This is our third stay at the hotel, and we always find it enjoyable and great value. Our only criticism this time would be that they were quite slow to replenish the breakfast buffet, despite us having breakfast during one of the earlier, quieter slots. All staff were friendly and helpful and clearly working hard, but our experience at the Drayton Manor theme park later that day led us to suspect there may be a resort wide issue with staffing levels, which is a shame because that was the only thing that prevented our stay being rated five stars."

New Hall Hotel & Spa

"Beautiful old main building and well constructed new wing that blended seamlessly with the old main Hall. However, due to the layout and lack of lifts it meant a really long walk from our room to the main reception area. The Hotel seemed to have a lack of staff - the very nice mature lady at reception, was multitasking and ended up carrying our bags up to the room. This staff shortage manifested itself later when we went to have dinner - to be told that the gas was off in the kitchen and therefore they could only serve cold food. A complaint - but not necessarily to the limited staff, was to the guests that stubbed their cigarette butts out on the lawn by the outside terrace - unacceptable behaviour. All in all - beautiful location but only an acceptable level of service and facilities - the public rooms were dated and more resembled the local golf club. It could be so much better."
