"Clean + friendly staff + good for families "

"Great overall experience here, good rooms, nice restaurant, walking distance to everything in the King's city walls. No complaints at all. Would gladly stay here again."

"The hotel was in great location near the center. The staff were kind and very helpful. The rooms were nice."

"Lovely home-y hotel in York. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Room is clean, only deducted a star because there is some up- keeping that can be done (a bit of peeling wallpaper, etc). Very well located, about a 6 minute walk from the train station and right in the centre of the old town. Breakfast included in the room rate was great."

"Clean room, baby cot available, and staff were helpful"

"Good location central to most places in the city, staff very pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast good and service quick and helpful."

"This was the best place I stayed at on my 10 day UK adventure. The room was gorgeous, the bed was sooooo comfortable, and the staff were so very kind. The only down side was no free breakfast but can’t expect everything to be spectacular."

"The staff and grounds were amazing. Loved the garden and the character of Gray’s Court. The bed and mattress in our room are in need of an upgrade as the mattress sagged a bit and the bed frame croaked with every motion."

"A boutique hotel experience for budget hotel price. Perfect location with a lovely view from the room, so clean and comfortable. And the staff are so friendly, they held our luggage before check in and after check out. The breakfast was included with the stay and was delicious PLUS included lattes. We had a truly amazing stay, I wish I could give 6/5 stars!"

"Historic building directly across from the Yorkminster. In the heart of the action and easy walk from train station. Comfortable room with old inn feel to main floor pub and restaurant. Excellent outdoor patio restaurant (depending on weather)."

"Tolle Wohnung und tolle Lage!"

"Beautiful apartment, had everything we needed for a one night stay and a close walk to city centre, would definitely stay again."

"NA"

"Staff not always present. Strange set up with gate closure and opening. We left with no one there and used code to heave property. Dust bunnies on pipes behind sink."

"This is a little late, we stayed in January 2026: I recently had the pleasure of staying at Serenity in the City to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and I can wholeheartedly say it was a remarkable experience! The apartment we stayed in was stunning; it felt truly luxurious, with elegant decor and all the amenities we could have hoped for. Joe and her husband were incredibly helpful and friendly, making us feel right at home from the moment we made contact. Their warm hospitality significantly...
