"There is no discounted parking which is why I booked this particular hotel. The hotel is ok, staff friendly enough. Had to chase a few things up which is a bit annoying and beer choice unavailable but like I said it was ok."
"The room was lovely and the offer of a free drink in the bar in exchange for no housekeeping is clever. Such a good idea.
Unfortunately the wedding in the hotel on Saturday night dominated all the communal areas of the hotel which meant that we couldn’t have the nightcap in the bar we were hoping for, as well as there being the thumping of the music from the wedding in our room until well after 11pm. Had we known yet the bar area would be pretty much out of action to other guests we might have...
"So disappointed - avoid this establishment until something changes!
We arrived just before 8pm and went straight to check in and have dinner in the restaurant, we were informed that the kitchen was busy and there would be a wait, which was fine, however 90mins later we still had no food and when it did come out it was lukewarm and three out of seven meals were missing something. Further to this the children’s carrot and cucumber starter looked like it had been prepared days before -
We...
"It was a wonderful, yet too brief, one night stay. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Our meal in the informal dining/pub options was nourishing and delicious. The room was clean, large, and bright. We were able to get a room facing back garden and with views. A big pot of tea and a freshly pressed coffee were very nice at breakfast. Local walks on the moor, and to the quarry & rocks and were fab."
"Room was clean, lift didn’t get swept in the 5 nights I was there and had a lot of dried mud in it. I extended by a couple of nights because my friends were still there and reception man wasn’t very helpful. Had to do it online, even though I would have had an alumni discount if I did it at the desk. The map is entirely unhelpful for the parking if you don’t know your way around campus. They could do with adding more details to it to help people. I bumped into someone lost in the dark in the...
"A reminder that you don’t get a lot for your money these days. Twin room - cheap narrow beds, very noisy plumbing system in the room and from other rooms, noisy outside, tiny shower. Included breakfast not worth mentioning."
"I would like to have given the Sidmouth Harbour Hotel 5 stars. However, I have only given it 4 stars because the main hotel description on Expedia is inaccurate. It says "this hotel sits directly on a pebble beach....". It does not. It is situated about 3 minutes walk from the beach, 75 feet above sea level on the adjacent hillside. I pointed this error out to the receptionist, who agreed the description is incorrect. But it has not been changed.
In all other respects, the hotel met our...
"Lovely hotel by the sea
We stayed at the Langstone Cliff hotel before a concert at Powderham castle. We arrived early afternoon and decided to have lunch on the terrace overlooking the sea. Lunch was lovely and the drinks were cold. Having parasol’s kept us cool on a very hot day. Our room was lovely, quite small but had everything we needed and the air con was an added bonus. The travel to Powderham was easy and relatively quick with only a short walk to the station and then about a 15 minute...
"A very disappointing stay.
We booked a deluxe sea view (with large bay window) double or twin room via Expedia. On arrival at the hotel we did not get the room we booked and paid for. According to Expedia ’s description and photographs the room we were given was a STANDARD double room for SINGLE occupancy. As the hotel was fully booked we had to tolerate this very small room with four steps up to the bathroom and really not enough room for two people. The room in no way bore any resemblance to...
"This was a quick overnight stay on the drive back from Cornwall. The off-street parking and affordability were key in our purchase. Our room was clean and spacious, staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious."
"Beautiful location. Ideally situated for the South West Coastal Path. Lovely pub atmosphere with a good restaurant. Local beer. Staff were helpful on site. Parking.
Room was cosy but had everything that you needed. Lovely shower."
