"Friendly old hotel. Staff good. Breakfast was good, but maybe some fried bread, ham & cheese, especially as it appeared to cater for older people like me! Cleaning of room was a bit hit & miss. Nice room though, although my friends was smaller & boiling, even though we had paid the same. Choice of pillows & a fridge with water would be good. Swam a couple of times in the small pool, but didnt use gym.
Afraid the evening meals were not to our liking, but plenty of places elsewhere. Short walk...
"Fabulous stay The upgrade was Huge!! All Staff are so friendly and very nice..breakfast was delicious and a good variety I could literally touch the sand from my deck..so beautiful and amazing stay
Next time all I want more is a small fridge and safe box the view was fantastic watch the tide and walk on the powder soft sand"
"Wasn’t disappointed, booked this as it had good reviews and all I can say is they are all true. Staff are so friendly it was lovely. Room had everything that you could need. We had a room overlooking the car park. (Plenty of free parking for residents) We could hear the road, however, we had the window open as we were very warm and it wasn’t busy overnight. Breakfast was very nice, fresh and plenty of it. We didn’t eat in the evening, however if breakfast is anything to go by we will be on our...
"Absolutely wonderful views from the harbour view rooms. These rooms are extremely spacious. They are comfortable but could probably use a little bit of an update. All staff extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was better than expected."
"We loved this property and area as a whole and to be in Sherborne was fantastic anyway, and so close to the Abbey was beautiful in itself. The in-house staff were brilliant and very helpful too with anything we needed, but I’m afraid the general up keep of the building and facilities in Room 1 (family size) were poor in places like broken fixtures and fittings etc, like the cracked toilet seat lid, the broken (and not working) shaving light and shaver power socket on the mirror in the bathroom...
"This hotel needs modernisation. I would not have been happy to be here on a very hot day.
It is not very accessible. As I have arthritis I found accessing the first floor quite difficult.
Breakfast was great the staff were great"
"OK room - no air con but understandable give the age of the building. Bed was OK, but traffic noise is noticeable, especially with the window open (remember there is no air con), so not the best nights' sleep. Staff were fantastic though, especially the breakfast server and the breakfast itself was great."
"Lovely pub/restaurant with rooms in a picturesque small village. We had a great dinner and the service throughout our stay was fantastic (thank you Matthew). I wasn’t aware this was part of a chain at the time of booking but I shall be looking out for Butcombe Pubs in future."
"The bed was clearly very old as the mattress was lumpy and had a ridge where people before me had slept.
The fridge leaked on to the carpet even though there was nothing in there.
The pub good was very good though"
