"Friendly welcome on arrival . room was relatively small but well equipped and clen. Bed was comfortable. Dinner in the evening was excellent and all bar prices were very reasonable. while there was some ongoing construction in the hotel grounds, there was still the ability to take a short stroll around the grounds. Definitely worthy of a short stay."
"A beautiful setting. The parkland with peacocks and chickens was great to walk around with our dog. Rooms spacious and clean with good facilities and restaurant food excellent. Staff were super friendly and helpful - a great place to stay especially as a base for walking/visiting the Lake Distrct."
"Great location and friendly staff. Some of the decor could do with updating and the shower was unusually complex to use. Overall, a lovely place to stay, and I would recommend."
"Lovely hotel, clean comfortable room all be it a bit small even though it was described as a cosy double it was small, ok for a 2 night stay but would not be ideal for longer.
Air conditioned was a bonus
Breakfast was excellent both mornings."
"An amazing hotel. Gary gave the smoothest check in ever. Amy in Stove was incredibly hospitable and was one of the reasons our stay was so good. The spa was fantastic."
"Very decent place to stay with comfortable rooms, welcoming and helpful people and a first class breakfast. I especially liked the vegetarian breakfast, the Motown music and jazz posters. Easy to find and good parking."
"Excellent room; responsive staff is committed to service. Use driveway to the LEFT (downhill) of the house. Parking can be tricky in small lot, but help is available. Phone is needed for initial entry if staff is off-site (room key is in lock box and a phone call provides the code). I had a very happy and comfortable stay."
"Booked a double room but got a room with 3 single beds. Not the end of the world but not what I booked.
Beds were uncomfortable. Mattress was really thin, when you sat on it you were basically sat on the bed base and when you laid on the bed you could feel the springs in your back and side.
The walls were wafer thin, you can hear the tap running and toilet etc from the room next door. Also the water in the bathroom made a right racket when you ran the tap, shower or flushed the toilet.

"Our first visit to Dorchester House in Keswick and UK lake country was a wonderful experience. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Liked the English breakfast and all the fresh fruit and baked goods. Proprietor Lorraine saved the day for us on the morning of our departure. Construction in Keswick forced Stagecoach bus route closures and eliminated the main routes. Without getting us a last minute private car, we would have missed our train to Edinburgh from Penrith station. Would recommend...
"The breakfast was exceptional and exceeded expectations. Some attention is required on the bedroom ceiling where there have been previous water leaks"
"I've stayed at the Trout a number of times, it is a pretty, well maintained hotel with lots of character and ideally placed to explore Cockermouth, the Western Lakes and the national park. The food is good and the staff are professional and very friendly."
