Entrance carpet filthy and threadbare covered in pigeon poo.
Clearly not seen a vacuum in weeks

Receptionist un-ingauging and disinterested as we arrived at 2:30 not after 3pm

Room filthy layered dust between beds and walls
Windows had mould on inside and Clearly not cleaned for months
Old dated furniture
Beds clean and comfortable
Room facilities good and working...
"This is the worst hotel I have stayed on. We were put in the motel part, like pontins but 20 years older! Front door had light shining through it, light was hanging with loose wires, dead flies, spiders, cob webs, stains on sheets, bed side lights no light bulbs, grouting yellow in bathroom and windows held in with lose paint
I did ring to complain but they weren't interested.
The hole building needs knocking down.

"The old Best Western sign is still up so it was a bit confusing at first as the "Sheffield Metropolitan Hotel" sign is on the door. One of the lifts broke down while I was there and the restaurant also shut down the same day/day after. The water in the shower was not very warm, so I had some slightly chilly baths but the towel warmer worked well enough to compensate for that. Otherwise it was clean and conveniently located close to the city center and the train station."
"The website said there was parking and I arrived to be handed a £5 bill to pay for parking.
I purchased £10 breakfast but was given a coupon to go to the Welcome Break services for breakfast. At that counter - The Good Breakfast - I could not swap items I did not eat.
I had to pay extra for 2 slice of bread and then told there was only white bread.
No refill of coffee and no juice.
It felt very must like a sham of a deal in between parking and the poor breakfast. I will NOT stay there...
"A clean and comfortable room at a good price, with an excellent, powerful shower. The staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in and check-out were quick and hassle-free. Unfortunately, the TV had a very limited channel selection, meaning I was left having to watch mainstream media, with BBC News being the only available news channel. The television would benefit from being retuned, as several channels were missing, including GB News. Overall, a pleasant stay offering good value for money."
"Staff are lovely, very helpful and friendly plus the breakfast scrambled eggs were delicious. However the property is a little tired looking. My specific room was very dark as several ceiling bulbs had gone and the bedside lights were extremely dim so difficult to read by them. Also both the mirrors were very high. I’m 5.3 and could only see top of my head in the bathroom mirror. These things could be easily fixed."
"Great location for Matlock Bath illumination. Hotel has an Indian restaurant which was popular but we had already booked elsewhere. The hotel is generally clean and tidy but some aspects of cleaning could be improved. The shower doors and bathroom floor would have benefited from a better clean. Good parking facilities on site and friendly staff. Hotel is a bit tired but places to stay in Matlock bath with parking are limited. All in all, good value for money."
"No check in desk, no room cleaning, no hot water, no heat, no breakfast service. Food very mediocre. Management of this hotel was disgraceful. Staff were amazing in very difficult circumstances. Stayed here many times before…..never again"
