"Very disappointing to arrive to such an old, very tired premises. We reluctantly stayed because we had paid for it.
Support beams in MacDonald house had been knocked out of place, so staying on the 2nd level, we hoped that the balcony would hold up. Our view was good and the bed was comfortable enough, but paint was peeling off walls and trim, and the bathroom definitely needs an update.
Location was ok."
"Solid room for the first night on the island. Comfortable bed, slept well, great blackout blinds. Exceptionally clean and everything worked as expected. Only thing missing was coffee/tea but there’s a bakery just down the road for this!"
"When I checked in, everything seemed to be fine. I told my name, showed my ID. Then the lady wanted to take a picture of it. She wouldn't tell me why. She would delete it the next day. I declined. Showing her that the ID was me. She seemed confused about not letting her take a picture of MY ID. That set the tone for the motel. Its overral okay. Some wall paper was peeling away from the wall and the beds were very springy. Parking was right infront of the room which was nice. It did feel a little...
"We enjoyed the location, although there is no food except the lobster house next door which only has breakfast in the summer months. We stayed 2 nights and drove 20 minutes into Baddeck for breakfast each day. The motel is dated and furnishings are well worn, but everything you need is in room.It was lovely to sit outside on the edge of water. The owner is very hospitable."
"The property was updated and very clean. Don’t judge by the outside. Check in was easy albeit no one at a desk but a phone contact as it was a Sunday."
"This was everything we hoped it would be. Unique, private, clean, well equipped as it should be and convenient to the North coast for all the beauty and wilderness it has to offer. Everything worked except for the weather which no one can control. When I come back to Cape Breton, I will be booking Blue Bayou again and well in advance since it will soon be a must for thousands of Cabot Trail visitors throughout the season."
