Great stay and value. Some reviews nitpick on minor stuff and expect a Waldorf Astoria stay. This place is an excellent location, run by very pleasant and accommodating staff, great food (and drinks), well maintained grounds and best of all, best beach around Guanacaste

Beautiful but dated property. Pools need maintaining with missing tiles and mold. Faucets in our room were leaky and wouldn’t stay open. No activities on property except for a local musician during late dinner. Food was good enough. I enjoyed the fresh fruit and vegetables.

We enjoyed our stay! The night club was a big hit! I just wished there transportation carts didn’t end at 2 am when the bar/club doesn’t close till 3… birthday weekend on top of 1 year wedding anniversary needless to say we partied!

This property met every expectation I had. From friendly staff to beautiful views. My room was spacious and clean. Would most definitely visit this property again. Notable mentions to Rafael, and Eduar. They answered my minion and one questions with patience and professionalism

The place is nice, however, I will review my stay as follows: Staff (5 stars- firendliest, polite, helpful), Pool (1 star-water dirty/cloudy), food (3 stars-food is recycled very often) , property condition (4 stars), beach ( 2 stars - beach space can barely accomodate more than 15 people.)

. If you’re looking for a place to relax, unwind, and enjoy some downtime, this may be the place for you. However, the food was very disappointing. On my first night at the hotel, I met a couple who shared their experience with me. The first thing they told me was that the staff were not welcoming and that, if I planned to stay for a week and have a good time, I would need to lower my standards and expectations. Unfortunately, their comments raised concerns about the level of service, and I believe there is room for significant improvement. I would strongly recommend retraining the staff, particularly in customer service, hospitality, and how to make guests feel welcome. A relaxing environment is important, but good food and friendly, professional service are equally essential to a positive hotel experienc

The staff is what makes the stay! An absolutely phenomenal group of people who truly care about you and what they do. Buffet food was great although the a la carte restaurants stood out. From the moment I checked in with Mitzi, to the little tour and information provided by the bellhop Elvin to even the servers and hosts (I wish I could remember everyone's name!) but quite the excellent stay. I absolutely fell in love with Costa Rica and will be back!! There were a few snags along the way but they were rectified swiftly and with service above and beyond what I expected.

The view was amazing. The beach is horrible. The food is mediocre. The Italian restaurant was delicious but if you don't make a reservation at any of the 3 restaurants you will be eating at the buffet. There a barely any activities or bars. I would not return.

Buffet was ok. I’ve never been to a resort with such a small variety. Air conditioner didn’t work in our room. Night Entertainment you could sit and read a book through it. Definitely resort not for people who like to dress up every night. Beach area was bad. This resort was beautiful but not impressed at all with the amenities or food. If you like a quiet vacation this is the place.

I stayed for a week in Occidental Papagayo, overall everything was smooth. The food was ok nothing really special, the stuff good and helpful, the resort is beautiful for views 😍 in the golf of Papagayo with animals going around all the time like iguanas, birds,monkeys and others. The beach is public so others people outside the resort are there plus the sellers but they are nice. The beach itself is good not amazing but pretty calm for swimming and warm water as well, and beautiful view on the golf with spectacular sunsets. There are no umbrella on the beach but some trees for shade area nice.To move around the resort you can either walk( it can get tiring) or ride on the small cars. The weather was incredible nice warm, humid sometimes sunny and no rain. The rooms needed renovation and resort in general too. But personally i like it, can't complain. They have 2 pools 3 restaurant a disco for the night and some live music by the evening in the lobby area to relax. I traveled in mid September.

Resort was clean and property was well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great views and a nice beach with shade and a breeze for the hot afternoons. Food was good, but options were a bit limited. Lots of hills and stairs to walk around the property, but there was a readily available shuttle if you didn't want to walk. Overall a nice resort.
