I quite like this hotel and it's one of the better hotels in the Merced area. My only issue is that it is quite loud on the M Street side because the train is in the vicinity, which runs until very late. The other problem that they cannot control is the health food/juice bar (also the M Street side) that blasts music all day starting at 9 a.m. Book yourself a room on the alley side, or quiet side. One of the best features of El Capitan is it has a nice coffee bar downstairs that also serves snacks. Their staff is very friendly, too. I also love the filtered water and ice station on the 3rd floor. If you're a big water drinker, this is a marvelous amenity.

This is by far one of the best—if not the best—hotels I’ve ever stayed at. From the doorman to the front desk staff, the housekeeping team, and everyone in between, the service was exceptional. The entire place is welcoming, spotless, calm, and absolutely beautiful. I will definitely be coming back and recommending it to others. This is exactly what hospitality and a great hotel experience should be.

All was good. Only problem was at 1:00 in a.m. on our last day early Monday, there was a loud noise. It appeared to be someone working on the room or roof above us. They did warn of a fire alarm drill occurring and that did happen at 10:00 a.m. Room was cute. It had a little phonograph with some albums to play. I couldn’t get the stylus to come off. No worries. We would stay again. Staff is awesome. Thank you.

This is a gem in this small town. The Rainbird is amazing. The staff is so wonderful ❤️ we went for 1 night and extended to a 5 night trip. We stayen in a king main st view amazinh. The JR Suite is great for 2. The suites are amazing for a romantic stay. Such a wonderful comfy clean and welcoming place to stay.
