We walked to our restaurant and store, and downtown Merced was very clean. As with most of CA, there was some blight and homeless, but we had no issues and saw law enforcement frequently on our walk

I will be sure to return to get to see more of Merced, as we were on a rushed weekend trip. It looks like a fun city with great dining options plus some historical architecture dating back to the 1800's, loved seeing the classic autos driven on Main

Both "The 17th Street Public House" and the "Partisan" both offered great beer and cocktail selections. "Lovers Deli" had sandwiches to die for.

I am hoping with this gentrification of this incredibly important agricultural and cultural area that services are set up to maintain those integral portions of this community.

I was only there for two days, on business, so I didn't have much of a chance to experience the Gateway to Yosemite. But I was pleasantly surprised. Seems like a nice little city with quite a bit going on.

the only thing I want to said is that I wish to have more days to spent in Merced with this wonderful whether.
"I was coming into town very late and they were cool with checking in at midnight. They were also very accommodating with letting me do a late checkout. I’m glad the ice machine and A/C were working, this was mid to late July, super hot. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. It was the perfect layover to head to Yosemite the next day. Will definitely stay again if I’m ever in the area. Thank you!"
"Best Hotel and service in Merced.... sheets and bed are suuuper clean and smell fresh...I have to say I was very impressed with them and the price 👌 I highly recommend. "
"It was overall a great stay but my 1st room had a smoke detector beeping every 10-15 seconds and was very loud. I couldn't relax with the sound as it was ear-piercing. Told lady at the front desk and she said it was normal for it to do that. Knowing how a smoke detector works I told her no it's not, it's a low battery sound, can you please fix it. She said the same thing again about it being normal so I requested a new room which was given to me. No other rooms had alarms doing that. So I didn't like the fact that I was told something to me that was totally untrue and that I had to deal with it through the night. If I wouldn't have gotten a new room I'd have asked for a refund and went to the nearest Motel.
Overall everything was cool and I was thankful that I got a new room to sleep comfortably. I got the room due to me having stress as the highway 99 was terrible that day 7/3/25 and I got bad anxiety from driving and had to stop. My route from Sacramento to Bakersfield would have taken a total of over 8 hours to drive.
Thank you Motel 6 for accommodating me for that night. I slept great!!
