"Lovely comfortable room - really nice and warm and cozy. Nice to stay somewhere with a bit of character. Clean and the beds and couches were comfy. Nice modern shower but it still worked in the aesthetic. Lovely owner and easy to walk to town."

"Receptionists were extremely helpful. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choices Overall 8.5/10."

"Everything was excellent. We were upgraded to a studio self contained room at no extra cost. This was great as we had washing machine/dryer and kitchenette, giving us option to wash clothes after big day and cook food if required. Great hotel that has made our stay memorable."

"There were leftovers in the cups and pot, and we waited more than 1.5 hours for cleaning. The staff were unprofessional: one staff member forgot my name two hours after check-in and then knocked on our door. There is no shelf/platform to hold the shampoo and conditioner, so they had to be placed on the shower base. The bathroom fan is noisy. Soundproofing is poor—when the neighbor was washing, we could hear it. Overall, it was a bad experience."

"While the rooms in the 2 bedroom apartment were small, the staff offered to upgrade us to a 3 bedroom for a discounted upcharge, but we opted to keep our original room. The views from the rooms are outstanding. The staff was outstanding at every point. We especially enjoyed being served dinner in the True South Restaurant by Faustine who was super friendly and accommodating. We made it a point to go back to for dessert our last night to see her. The food was excellent. The location is a...

"Had a great stay Awesome staff"

"Exceptional. This hotel completely redefines what a five-star experience should be. It makes you rethink all the previous five-star review you've given simply because nothing went wrong. Hulbert house sets the standard, and few others deserve to be in the same category. Staff are always keen to help and would put in a lot of nice touches. Particularly love how they would put a couple bottles of water in the car as they pull the car out for you. Also the 5pm canapé/wine were nice (great sav...

"Staff were great"

"We stayed in the deluxe cabin and it was exactly what we asked for. The place itself was warm and all the amenities were provided which was helpful. We found the staff very nice and accomodating and the free shuttle to town was a nice touch. Only comment on our cabin was that one of the wall heaters in the room wasn’t working"

"We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa. First thing u need to know is the 3rd bedroom downstairs has a single bed. This threw things out for us as our youngest didn't want to sleep downstairs on her own, so our giant teenager had to have a single bed while the younger child had a double bed all to themselves. Knowing the layout would have changed my decision. The downstairs of the villa was freezing, the air con wasn't working properly. How a property doesn't have proper heating in the NZ winter is...

"no useful amenities were in the room, no basic ! door was hard to lock. small room, not great. staffs are nice but feels like not open to help."
