"My go to hotel in the area because it is always friendly, nothing is too much trouble, clean and convenient place to stay. I rarely eat there, doing so with friends in the neighbourhood, which is why 4 stars not 5 but given the comments I hear from those who do I suspect 5 would be deserved."

"Fantastic view of the cathedral from our room. However the room and hotel were a little tired. There were cracked tiles on the bathroom floor, and the bathroom light switch was in a dangerous condition…arcing at the slightest touch. There never appeared to be any staff available and the buffet breakfast…well, don’t bother paying for it! You can get a fabulous breakfast at one of the many cafes available nearby!"

"This property is a gem! Incredibly convenient and comfortable for anyone visiting. We only stayed one night, but the staff was very helpful and nice. The beds are extremely comfortable and air conditioning was key to a very hot couple of days. The amenities are also wonderful."

"Well cleaned and maintained hotel, lovely staff. Lovely bathroom and bedroom was stocked with amenities like hairdryer, iron. But no mini fridge?! Unusual. Also, no AC in the rooms made sleeping at night impossible in this heatwave, it was a sauna in there. A fan was provided but didnt make much difference. At least provide portable AC/ powerful fans."

"Our visit was very good. We made a room with a veranda and looked over a beautiful lawn. All the staff were polite and helpful. I would highly recommend it."

"I had a one night stay here for the summer solstice. The room was good, bed was nice the surrounding beautiful and serene, but the food was awful and exorbitantly priced. My order of salmon and 2 very small potatoes came in cold so I took it back. Well they warmed it for me but it got me wondering why it came cold in the first place. The waiting staff didn't seem bothered"

"Rooms were nice and clean, check in swift and staff friendly. Had the worst nights sleep of my life though. Had to move rooms at 12am as couldn’t get to sleep in my first room due to a constant drone sound from a pump in the building. Reception staff moved me immediately. Finally settled down in the new room only for the fire alarm to go off at 2am. I’m sure my experience would’ve been fine had it not been for those problems"

"Breakfast selection was excellent.Coffee was terrible. no second cup of coffee offered. we saw the hotel from the street. a sign with an arrow said parking for the hotel.we fpllowed this instruction 3 times. we went back to the high street and parked in a disabled space. we went into the hotel and the receptionist came out and opened the adjoining gate so we could park in hotel parking.Receptionist was good.Coffee and milk provision in room could have been better. provision of bath sheets only...

"Useful location but very close to the A30. Nice hotel/former coaching Inn with friendly welcome. Plenty of parking. Good breakfast. The good size double room had a kettle with coffee bags, fan, hairdryer, iron and ironing board plus large TV. The mattress was a bit too firm for our comfort though."

"Arrived and checked in quickly. Efficient young chap did all the preliminaries and we headed to our room. Room was in the main building at the front. Large room with plenty of wall lights and lamps as well as spot lights. Lovely sized room and bathroom. Plenty of boiling hot water as soon as the tap was turned. Beds were clean and very comfy.
