"I needed somewhere that was able to do late check-ins, as I had a long drive late at night to get there - this hotel appears to have round the clock reception, and it was no trouble arriving late at night (after 11pm) - hotel's own website claims 24/7 reception desk, which reassured me. Room was great except the window frame really needed replacing (old wooden frame with cracks and rots in several places, and a latch that was broken so window could not close firmly and leaked cold air from...

"Let's start with the good stuff. Bathroom spotless, lovely fluffy towels and a great size too, not the usual handkerchief you often get! Massive bed, crisp clean bedding, great pillows. OK, so let's ignore the fact that the decor is in need of an update - it might be shabby, but the room was really clean throughout. Negatives? Central heating SO noisy, I had to wear earplugs to block out the background noise. And the shower, although really good and hot, is like being spiked by needles! Easily...

"Exceptional local hotel and accommodation. So nice to have a huge comfy bed, a simple telly that works and hot water that is actually hot. Getting these basics right is what this hotel does best as well as the quality of stay, food and service "
