Great hosts and wonderful food (and wine)

We very much enjoyed our stay. Great hosts, lovely food, and the wine was excellent. Our evening meals were especially good with fresh vegetables we helped to select from the garden prepared to perfection. We were lucky enough to eat outdoors overlooking the vines. A fantastic experience.

I had a lovely albeit short stay at Hawkdun Rise. Suzanne and John are wonderful hosts who make you feel at home. The interior could be slightly more modern for my personal taste but everything was very clean and well kept. And you can tell that the owners put a lot of thought into creating a space in which their guests can feel comfortable and welcome. Need to try their Gewürztraminer!

Room for improvement

Beautiful setting and friendly welcoming hosts, however the accommodation wasn't up to the standard we had experienced at other similar bed and breakfasts. There was a lot of personal items in the fridge and pantry and the breakfast was a help yourself to what was there rather than a personal service. The yoghurt didn't turn up in the morning as promised either, so rather disappointed with this aspect. We did enjoy a glass of wine on arrival and met other guests which was nice.

Holiday accommodation

Lovely vineyard setting. Owners very friendly and helpful. Lovely bottle of wine. Lots of helpful advise on our onwards travels through New Zealand.

We stayed 1 night on our way to the west coast, and were very pleased with our room. The hosts were very friendly and there were lot of outdoor space for us to use. Breakfast very good.
