"This was not our first visit to the Grosvenor hotel in chester, as it is closing on 30th september for a couple of years to renovate.so we booked two lovely rooms in april to stay 1 night at the end of september, on arrival we soon found out our stay was not as we hoped it may be, there was an heritage package that we were not made known to on arrival. therefore there was only 1 menu we could choose from, asked a bottle of wine was told that could not order a bottle but could order by the glass...
"The only thing that was disappointing was that they did not have bar food like steak, bugars etc but i guess a very exclusive place would only provide upmarket food. Was informed in the morning that there is a pub five minutes walk where we could of injoyed this kind of food. Apart from that it was an excellent place to stay. The selection of alcoholic drinks were great.
Staff were very friendly and attentive especially the young barman/waiter. Everyone were full of smiles and welcoming.

"Extremely spacious and well equipped with one exception, given the unusually warm weather—no AC, some fans, and no screens on windows that do open. The garden has a knockout location right on the river and some rooms also have this gorgeous view, including the huge bathroom with freestanding tub. There are however a lot of stairs. Kitchen is on lowest floor. Entry and dining and parlor are on street level, and there is no bathroom on that floor. So it’s a trek from kitchen to loo. The top floor...
"Excellent property for family of 6 adults and two children. Could do with a safety gate to keep little ones safe on the stairs but excellent place to stay. A little noisy in first floor bedroom as the window catch was broken so the window did not shut properly but did not dampen our stay "
