Staff were amazing very friendly and helpful. Even the continental breakfast had so many choices. The doorman especially was helpful to my husband as he needed a ramp for his scooter whenever he left the building.
Beautiful hotel in a great location. The building is historic but still maintains a level of grandeur. The rooms are big and comfortable, and the breakfast is excellent.
Beautiful hotel. Right in the centre. Staff couldnt do enough. Parking is so easy as there is a lift from the shopping car park directly into the hotel. Food was stunning and lovely to sit in the window looking out people watching. Definitely going back and want to try the spa next time
The level of service was exceptional and the staff were friendy and helpful.
The continental breakfast was delicious and it was a lovely suprise to have table service instead of a buffet.
It is disappointing that the hotel is due to close on the 30th September, as we would have visited again in the autumn.
We were upgraded to a Presidential Suite for my 80th birthday which was very much appreciated. Reception and dining room staff were very efficient and doormen who advised us on were certain shops we wanted to visit were very friendly and helpful. In the restaurant you were shown to a table, given a menu and served at your table. Service and food was excellent. We enjoyed our stay there and hope to go back in the near future
Lovely hotel in the centre of Chester. Bedroom was beautifully decorated. Bed very comfortable. Hospitality tray. Good choice at breakfast.
Unfortunately the hotel will be closing at the end of next month for refurbishment. Hopefully it will return as good as it is.
Wonderful place to stay. Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. Staff were exceptional and I wish I had longer than one night in my luxurious room! I hope to be back one day.
Wow what an fabulous hotel, so glad we got to experience staying here before it closes at the end of September.
The room was lovely and clean, the bed was so comfortable making for a great night's sleep. The room had everything we needed to make our stay a happy one.
The reception team left us a lovely card with a picture of the hotel on, to celebrate our 36th anniversary, it was a beautiful memento and keepsake, which we really appreciated.
The continental breakfast was delicious and was suprisingly served to us at our table. The food itself was plentiful, fresh, and tasted amazing, and the service was absolutely excellent,
We could not fault a single thing about our stay, room, food, service or parking. We look forward to the reopening as we will be definitely coming back.
Thank you for a lovely stay

Exceptionally enjoyable stay
Although due to close for renovation in 2-3 weeks it retained its opulence and the bar and restaurant were superb
The hotel is perfectly placed to explore Chester and access relatively inexpensive public transport to nearby places such as Port Sunlight and Liverpool which are short distances away
Only down side was initial information about dress code in restaurant. It was way below what we were advised. We had no problem with that, but would have packed maybe 6-8 garments less between us
Finally, and most important, given the up coming 2 year closure the staff there were absolutely magnificently helpful and friendly. Special mention to Jo (GI Jo), Kevin, Harriet and many others whose names I don’t have but definitely including the excellent sommelier
A shame that the hotel is closing. It’s perfectly located in the centre of Chester. The staff couldn’t have been more attentive and helpful.
My treatment in the spa was excellent.
Lovely staff & good spacious room , breakfast was really tasty but could’ve been warmer , are checking time was 3pm but the room wasn’t ready till 3.45 which was unfortunate

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The Staff were very helpful including finding us a new room when the first was too noisy (David). Including a complimentary breakfast to make up for our inconvenience.
Sadly the hotel has become dated needing refurbishment of bathrooms, plumbing and general modernisation within its historic and lovely interior.
Very sad to hear of all the Staff being made redundant.
The Grosvenor is well located, near the Eastgate clock. Everything is within walking distance. The hotel was very comfortable, continental breakfast was more than enough.
Great location being central, not the cheapest but I was on business. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Room was very nice. Believe the hotel is up for a refurb and construction work in September 2026, so be mindful of that if booking near then.
Was only there one night but would definitely recommend based on the experience.
The front desk staff were fine, especially the overnight staff. The restaurant hostess was so rude and u pleasant each morning we decided to eat elsewhere.
Hotel is closing and have stopped amenities and after hours room service. The city closed down at night so if you are looking for a late dinner your left to Uber Eats.
Considering how much this hotel cost and the fact we were excited about being so central. We Weber very let down.
Room was excellent, bed very comfortable. Unlimited continental breakfast was also excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel and am looking forward to staying there again when I return to Chester.
