"The location is excellent. The hotel is generally nice but if you look closely is a bit grubby in places -skirtings, behind the doors and daily room service. The shower was over a bath and it was very deep which made it difficult to get in and out. There was an aircon unit which was so noisy it couldn't be used. Breakfast was good and overall we had a good stay."

"The staff were friendly and helpful at check-in and whenever we interacted with them. Our room was clean and in good condition. The outdoor beer garden was a great place to enjoy an afternoon drink, and family friendly for our five-year-old to join. The hotel was located a short distance from the Bootham Bar entrance to the city centre and conveniently located near other amenities."

The Radio was on when we arrived to our room and the Pantry is generous & a really unique touch. Canadian lady on the Bar was knowledgeable & super friendly (Pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the extensive bar menu was priced). Just really really cool & great location."

"The staff at Ascot House were great. The breakfasts are pretty much set with some exceptions if you don't like something, the chef tries to accommodate when it's possible which is a great thing to be able to offer. The owner June does a great job with keeping Ascot House friendly and accessible to all people. We had a lovely time staying here and visiting York."

"A good location with car parking at the back. Comfy beds, although our room was a bit small. If we had have been staying more than one night we would have wanted a bigger room. The food for breakfast and dinner was of good quality and the staff were very friendly. A large beer garden at the rear and a large screen to watch the football on."

"When checking out our room was different, we are from Arizona and never used anything like this, we had to use the key card to turn on electricity to the room. The bed was comfortable and clean, air conditioner worked great and the shower was excellent. "Booked last minute at this property. Room was very good and clean Staff were professional but a bit still. Breakfast was the biggest let down. Cost was very high and the standard of food was not great. Avocado on toast was very plain and boring. Buffet was limited. Pancakes were very thin and tasteless Then being shoved in your face while you’re eating the extra 2.50 docket was rather rude. Would go again."
