After a bit of a shaky start, which, to be fair was outside the staff's control, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The George. We were staying there in order to check its potential as guest accommodation for guests attending our daughter's wedding in 2026. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable and the breakfasts and evening meals were delicious.

Omg it’s a 5 star diamond venue i randomly found ! The food is awesome and a total refurb of bedrooms and dining room ! Just amazing with the outstanding beauty of North Yorkshire the views are amazing and such Clean air ! Everyone is so friendly and helpful unlike where I live down south ! We WILL be back thank you for a fantastic stay ❤️

Very nice hotel. Our room was attractive and comfortable. We found it a little hot but the fan helped. There was a good big bath and shower in a roomy bathroom. The staff were friendly and approachable and we felt very welcome. The pub has a warm and friendly atmosphere. We had a lovely meal in the bar - excellent quality and very tasty. Breakfast was also of a high standard. Easy to park nearby. Would definitely stay here again.

The food and service in the restaurant was great. However I was really disappointed with the condition of the room - the bathroom in particular was really shabby and the tiles were dirty. There was also a really long wait when we first arrived at the hotel to check-in. The pub and restaurant were both busy, so a short delay was understandable, but we were waiting nearly 15 minutes. For £120 a night, it did not offer good value.

Stayed here on business and ticket all the right boxes. The room was a bit warm though, despite that the heat had dropped off these last few days. Nice bar area and nice selection of ales. The restaurant was in a real pretty setting. Easy parking in the vicinity of the hotel and they even had parking spaces in front of the rooms which are at the back of the property. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff.

Two nights in this beautiful little town. The George is a real treat good old fashioned charming pub and restaurant. Excellent professional friendly staff, our only disappointment was the size of the bed. A regular double in a room large enough for a king and more comfortable for two cuddly adults. The room was spacious with comfortable beds. It was clean with a good shower and sufficient storage. The free parking was good. However, the rooms weren’t sound proofed. We could hear those in the room next door. Also the room was close to the kitchen and were woken up early on the Sunday morning. Dinner was good but breakfast was disappointing. The scrambled eggs were overcooked and the bacon was hard.

Beautiful olde English pub with great atmosphere, friendly staff and comfortable rooms. We had a dog friendly room at the back of the property, easy walking to local park. Excellent breakfast and evening meal the best vegetarian I’ve had ad in years.
