"Wasn’t disappointed, booked this as it had good reviews and all I can say is they are all true. Staff are so friendly it was lovely. Room had everything that you could need. We had a room overlooking the car park. (Plenty of free parking for residents) We could hear the road, however, we had the window open as we were very warm and it wasn’t busy overnight. Breakfast was very nice, fresh and plenty of it. We didn’t eat in the evening, however if breakfast is anything to go by we will be on our...
"Good central location with plenty of space in the room and excellent parking. Lightening was insufficient since bedside lights broken or no bulb. Upgrade of interior (one of the 2 rooms) would benefit the property especially for the cost charged."
"Stayed in the summer with our two kids. Beautiful old inn in a picturesque little village. Tons of charm and atmosphere. Cosy bar and restaurant serving delicious food. Bed was so comfy didn't want to get up in the morning! And just a short walk down to the beach. Highly recommend!!"
"Breakfast was subpar at best. Upgraded room , however could not even provide a luggage rack. Bed was comfortable and hotel location great. We never saw a human during three day visit. Loved the town and dining was great in the area. Warning, we had to carry our luggage up three flights. Little tough after flight from US."
"What a wonderful find this hotel was.
Lovely and clean and safe, which is essential for a solo lady traveller.
An easy walk into the beautiful Sidmouth too.
Thankyou for such an enjoyable stay."
"Beautiful setting, full of character. Wonderfully welcoming and helpful staff. Quiet and peaceful. Excellent breakfast! The regular menu is also excellent. A nice respite in a busy world!"
"Our room was lovely, suitably large with 2 good wardrobes and a light over the dressing table mirror.
The mattress was very comfortable and table water was always available.
Breakfast was served in the conservatory with a lovely view of the enclosed garden.
We ventured away from the Full English to try the omelettes which were delicious!
The owner, Noorani Willamson is charming, chatty and very knowledgable about the surrounding area."
"Nice old building but in need of repairs and updates, room wasn’t particularly clean, old windows with condensation and not be cleaned for a while !
Good breakfast, location not bad but a killer of a hill to get back up at night, was ok as a base but if looking for a special occasion I’d look elsewhere"
"We stayed at the Brace of Pheasants for one night and it was really lovely. The room was big, airy and beautifully furnished. The bed was very comfortable and the linen was lovely.
We ate dinner in the pub and it was absolutely delicious. I am coeliac and Matt, the owner, was very knowledgeable when helping me to decide what to have. There were several choices for me and I can thoroughly recommend the lamb.
My husband was on crutches when we stayed and the staff were very thoughtful and...
"Beautiful grounds, excellent staff but room fell short of expectations - no air conditioning, bath/shower difficult to get into, no shower caps, no toilet brush, flush difficult to use, waste bin not emptied - maybe all OK when built (2005?) but at the price charged we hoped for better. Cooked breakfast was good - they know how to poach an egg - but fruit juices at best were supermarket quality, limited fruit on offer (melon, pineapple and maybe blackcurrant) and same both days were there."
