"The place is beautiful, and our room was very good.
The biggest issue was that Uber or Bolt does not pick up there. And we had to ask the hotel to call a taxi, which was really expensive (3x Uber). From Edinburgh center, ~£20 Uber and £50 taxi. Or you can go to the nearest train station for ~£15.
The other issue was that there is no phone coverage in the hotel and very weak connection outside."
"We stayed for 1 night in September 2026. The hotel was exceptionallyl well-run, with personal, friendly, and cheerful service. Be aware there is no lift.Wonderful breakfast with great variety, catering to specific dietary needs. Would definitely stay again if in the area. A real gem!"
"Absolutely lovely place! I’ve wanted to go here for a while for the pods with hot tubs and it did not disappoint!
POD was very spacious, a super king bed was amazing! Very modern and comfortable. The hotel itself is really nice and in lovely grounds. We only had breakfast but it was also very good.
We are looking forward to coming back!"
"A beautiful, historic castle outside Edinburgh. Room was very nice--bed comfortable, bathroom clean and roomy enough. Restaurant in the basement is a "must do." Steaks are cooked over a wood fire. Food was superb. Only negative was that I learned if you don't book directly with Melville Castle then breakfast is not included. I used a Expedia to book, so no breakfast included, which didn't seem right given the room prices. Overall a great experience. My wife and I would like to return sometime."
"Good location and rooms good side with filter coffee and chocolate bars available. Breakfast was also really good along with ample parking.
Check in was a bit odd with rooms and building unlocked and no food served on Tuesdays. Side saves were also dusty and staff unsure if breakfast was included which delayed my departure."

"We had a very comfortable stay at the wheatsheaf in Swindon, staff were friendly and welcoming, a bar that was open for drinks and places to sit and relax. Our room was comfortable although window wouldn’t stay open to let in fresh air as it was a warm day outside. Our even meal was delicious with a good choice of menu. Breakfast was also good and the service was swift. a great start to our day. All in all an enjoyable stay would revisit this hotel again in the future."
"We had a wonderful 4 night stay at The Gables. Room was fabulous and host Angus so friendly and welcoming. Such a quiet property and bed so comfortable and warm. Bathroom facilities excellent. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and nothing was too much for Angus. Thank you we thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and staying at The Gables. Mike and Wendy"
