"You get what you paid for. For a 2-star hotel, it is excellent. Perfect location, 6-min walk from the train station, and you are right in the city centre. Steps from the famous historic arcades and Cardiff Market. Their staff, especially Alison, are super friendly and helpful. Yes, it is an old hotel and the facilities may be a bit dated. "Amazing location. Parking was a bit of a hassle, but managed to find a spot. The pub in the hotel felt like a locals spot and was amazing to sit and watch a football match. The room was nice for the night we stayed."

"I loved the location and staff. The rooms were small but well stocked and comfortable. The second room we rented only had a sink -the toilet and shower facilities were in the hallway but it didn’t seem to be much of an issue unless you awake several times a night. A hidden surprise that we found out about by mistake…there is a walking path just outside the hotel entrance “behind the restaurant” (take a left) that leads to a beautiful trail and meanders to the road near the bay."

"On arrival we were shocked to see the poor appearance of this property in a run down area. Riverside? not actually but a short walk to the river, rugby stadiums and city centre. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The room was clean with fresh linen and towels, new kettle and tea/coffee/etc. However, the building was very tired and in need of at lot of maintenance. Bathroom suite was very old and the shower cubicle appeared to be crumbling with rust and black stains. We couldn't fault...
