"the hotel has recently changed hands and so is in somewhat a state of flux and thus in need of improvement. Likewise the buildings are in need of repair. My room was clean and tidy, though without air conditioning on one of the hottest days of the year took some time to cool down to allow sleep. I wasn't prepared with a costume in order to enjoy the pool. The barman was helpful and chatty and the abbot ale was welcome. It was, for the price paid, perfectly reasonable value for money. I hope...

"Low cost night and just what you would expect. Beds in our room were comfortable, tea and coffee provided and also body wash and hand wash in bathroom."

"A lovely clean room.....staff were very friendly and helpful...breakfast was fresh and good. Bar was busy with very friendly customers. We traveled down from Scarborough for football v Buxton...after the game the bar was very busy but the home supporters made us very welcom."

"The staircase and entrance were filthy but the room itself was clean. There was NO toilet paper whatsoever and only I small shower towel and 1 hand towel for 2 people. The bed was extremely soft. The welcome tray was suitably stocked. There was no one on reception to ask for toilet paper."

"Beautiful classic Georgian country Pub. Big comfortable room with a huge bathroom. The bed was also big and comfortable. We didn’t eat at the pub so cannot comment on that, but the village has several nice places to eat."
