"Our stay at this location could not have been better! It was a 5 Star experience in all categories! We stayed in the suite with the open air onsen and it was amazing. The staff offered the best costumer service all throughout the hotel. The food was incredible for all meals, another 5 Stars! The owner of the establishment came and spoke with us on 2 separate occasions to make sure we were enjoying our stay. This place is a total gem if you are staying in the Nagano area. We will definitely be returning in the future!!! Domo arigato gozaimasu!!!"

"My family enjoyed our stay at Hotel Tsubakino. We had a traditional Japanese room with a mountain view. The sunset views from our room were very nice. We also enjoyed the private onsen both nights of our stay. The temperature of the water fluctuated so the second night it was really hot and we were unable to stay in the water long. We had both the Japanese breakfast and the western breakfast. The Japanese breakfast was very impressive and it was tasty - although a bit much for the morning for our kids. So we tried the western breakfast on our second morning. It was good too. Beds were comfortable and the service was attentive and helpful. We came for the snow monkey park and while the snow monkeys didn't show up on the day we were there, I'm still happy we visited this beautiful mountain town. Would also recommend Sushiya for dinner. "

"Superb onsen experience. Our room was very clean with comfortable tatami/futon. Outdoor and indoor onsen was very pleasant as were the private onsen. Kaiseki was delicious and filling. Most of all staff and owners were very welcoming and kind. Will come back."

"Such a lovely Ryokan, the staff were all so kind and nice. Super friendly! Explained everything so well and offered pick up from a nearby train station and drop off at local monkey park. The baths were all so different and the vibes were really good. Would definitely go again! I'd recommend everyone to go if you want to stay in the area."

"This was our first time in a Ryokan! And we loved it!! We enjoyed wearing the Kimonos provided and having a multi course dinner! They were also able to provide vegetarian options for dinner as well. The onsen at the hotel was much larger and nicer than the free ones outside the hotel. There is a toilet in the room but no shower, so you have to use the public bath to shower."

"Really enjoyed my 6-night stay here. It really is a traditional Japanese hotel and experience and loved the friendly and helpful staff, and the location is just a short 10 min scenic stroll across the river to the bus/train station. Didnt know what to expect but the Japanese style tatami rooms were cosy and comfy, and the outdoor onsen was just what was needed after a day on the ski slopes. The half-board option is a must if you love Japanese food and each night was like a little banquet with an array of different and fresh local dishes, and was great value. Not a 5-star hotel by any means if thats your thing, but all in all a great stay and good location and Yudanaka is quaint little village at the foot of the Alps, that is worth a wander around, as Shibuya Onsen and Snow Monkeys are closeby.
