"Great place - really friendly "

"The property is tired and rooms and bathrooms need updating. Beautiful old hotel with history! Staff extremely helpful with a smile. Breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately the boiler was not working in the main building but the rooms with hot water were too hot in 30+ degree temps, uncomfortable to sleep in, so we were given both rooms, one where it was cool enough to sleep in and the other we can have hot water. Very accommodating! Thank you."

"So, a one night stay for Donington Park and it was a head on a pillow. The property is in dire need of an uplift. It felt like I was staying in a care home to be honest. "Really nicely appointed hotel and very comfortable. There is plenty of parking You are offered a good choice for breakfast and it is very reasonable. Downside, it does not do evening meals so you have to make alternative arrangements. Fortunately there are quite a few pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Great that you can take your dog but they are not allowed in the large breakfast room and you are seated in the lounge on a sofa with a coffee table. Bizarrely the reason given is...

"Worst hotel I have ever stayed! Reception closes at 10pm, so you have to call to get access. Room stinks to cigarette, flies inside the room, bathroom door was not closing and it smells pretty bad to humidity. Beds not comfortable. Don’t make the same mistake!!! Look somewhere else."

"Room 23 Noisy extractor fan. Should use spoons for tea instead of wood sticks. Should fix wallpaper falling down in room. But very clean and comfortable. Very helpful staff opening the bar for some drinks. Also upgraded me to a better room which was very generous."

We arrived, and no one answered the door, I then phoned, a very polite helpful gentleman let us in, and apologised profusely for not hearing the bell. I was upset at first, that my sister was on the ground floor, and I was on the top floor, but the gentleman carried up my case, I am 67 my sister 75! "As with the Z Hotel Piccadilly, this hotel was great in all but one way: air conditioning and ice! It’s hot in the summer, friends — and it’s only going to get hotter! That means you should significantly upgrade your air-conditioning system as soon as you can; the current one is simply not up to the job. And when you serve drinks in the hotel, you should be assuming that everyone will want a glass full of ice — not looking surprised and dubious when a guest timidly asks whether ice is available,...

"Lovely warm room with comfy bed and immaculately clean linen. Tea, coffee and chocolate available together with biscuits. Bathroom spotless with minuature shower gels etc. Loads of breakfast choices with the cooked items cooked to perfection. Hosts very friendly. A five star experience."

"The property cancelled the booking on the day in the evening. I was told I would get another booking at not extra cost. This did not happen. Awful experience this time through Expedia with OYO. Disrupted my day at work trying to sort out the booking and speak to numerous people on the phone for a long time. Frustrating to waste so much of my time on a Saturday at work - to no avail and no room at the end of all that..!"

"Fabulous stay for our son’s graduation. We had three rooms ours (no5) definitely the best. Great value for money with breakfast included. We ate in the restaurant too and the food was definitely, breakfast included the morning was tasty too. Staff friendly, helpful and attentive."
