You need to be a VERY early riser to stay here!
Whitby Heights is okay for a short stay - providing you only use one bedroom (the back one). The front bedroom has a major flaw in that the two large side windows of the dormer do not have any curtains or blinds. This means that I was awoken around 05:00am when the sun came up. It was torturous, and having had a late night, just left me trying to continue to sleep which was almost impossible. I ended up feeling ruined all weekend. I wouldn't be able to stay here again for that reason alone. During winter it would have been less of a problem, but I'm staggered this even existed in the first place.
Separately, the lounge area is not particularly cosy, partly because of the laminated floor, and partly due to the relative discomfort of the sofa and worn, unattractive table and chairs. If you can ignore the floor then two of you may get away with it, but more than two people I can't see it being very relaxing. I don't expect every place to be cosy, but this was too far the other way for my liking. The flat needs a bit of TLC.
Overall, we enjoyed Whitby only due to what we did - not where we stayed, which is a shame. I would have rated better as a "practical short stay" had it not been for the bedroom.
I have been to Whitby many times and stayed in lots of different rental properties. This is the only place I wouldn't stay in again. Sorry.
