"Very nicely decorated. Could use more hooks for hanging"

"No laundry facility. The place is overall pretty old"

"Der Grund hier zu Übernachten sollte die Nähe zum Nationalpark sein. Dafür ist es gut aber nicht mehr. Fehlende Erfahrung mit internationalen Gästen hinsichtlich der Checkin Anweisungen. Zudem hätte die Unterkunft gepflegter und sauberer sein können. Bsp. Bettlaken mit leichten Flecken und ungepflegter Holzboden am WC (war echt nicht schön) Die Betreiber darauf hingewiesen und mit einem OK von ihnen kommentiert."

"Beautiful grounds. The email before our stay regarding check-in was complete and clear. The room was adequate, although it was quite humid with no AC or dehumidifier. Nice peaceful setting though, and a comfortable bed. Good spot close to Kileuea."

"This is a wonderful property with a handful of rooms set amongst a lovely garden and pond. We appreciated the King upgrade and enjoyed a quiet time amongst the tropical plants."

"very very good!"

"Punawai Hale Barn Bungalow at this property is a wonderfully atmospheric and memorable place to stay. The spacious room with its tropical décor feels warm and inviting, and the sunroom overlooking a lively duck pond adds a peaceful charm. With ducks, chickens, cockerels, sheep, and goats roaming the grounds, the property feels lovingly crafted and uniquely farm‑like, making our stay both relaxing and distinctive — but it’s best suited for guests who enjoy animals and don’t mind a farm‑style...

"The host was excellent. Breakfast was handy. Location was perfect (was able to see an early morning eruption- 5 minutes to the park!) Room was large and comfortable. Lots of resources and books on site. Fridge for lunch/food and kitchen to cook if needed (reasonably stocked). Volcano is colder than Hilo - bring a jacket/sweater. Close to all the little local (delicious) restaurants. Volcano Forest Inn has seen better days. Place really need a deep clean and fresh paint in a few places. Hard to...

"Overall, experience is disappointing. Fell far short of the $360/night price tag. - Check-in Mix-Up: Entered our initial room and shocked that it was already occupied by another guest. After calling emergency support, we were quickly reassigned, but received no apology for the mix-up. - Room: The second room was nicely decorated with a comfortable queen bed, but it was very small, cramped with a tiny 4.5 X 4.5 feet shower stall. - Breakfast: Expecting a fresh, hot B&B breakfast (eggs, bacon,...

"If you're looking for a resort or regular hotel, this isn't isn't it. This is a cabin in the woods, far enough from the highway that you can't hear it. It feels more isolated than it is. It's incredible being surrounded by nature! Coqui frogs serenade you to sleep every night and birds gently wake you up in the morning. The rain on the roof is a soothing sound and the cabin is built excellently! The oven is useful for cooking or reheating leftovers. And while the water from the tap isn't...

"The location was great! Minutes from Volcanoes National Park! Also it was close to some restaurants and gas! The place was spacious and had comfortable bedding. There was a heater for cooler nights! The coffee pod machine and fridge are such nice features!!!"

"Property could do with a good renovation but prob one of the best in Hilo. It’s tight next to an abandoned hotel and homeless/ rough sleepers are all over the place. We chose to self park our rental which was offsite in a sketchy gravel parking lot. This was not attended and had heaps of pot holes. There were also a lot of homeless people sleeping in their car. In saying all that. The staff were amazing and accommodating with any and all requests we had. Very friendly all of them just let down...

"For our visit to the Big Island we stayed in Waikoloa but planned to visit the volcano. Due to the amount of driving involved we decided to spend one night in Hilo and selected the Hilo Hawaiian. The property was clean and staff were pleasant and helpful. However the hotel is showing it's age. The furniture was beat up, curtains thin in spots and the sink had a crack. The amenities were very basic - TV, mini-fridge and hair dryer. I had looked forward to sitting on the balcony and enjoying...

"Nice location, Hilo Reed Beach Park is next door and very nice for kids and adults to just walk around and enjoy seeing turtles and fishes."

"Definitely stay here! The rooms are lovely as are the hosts. It's right on the water, a short walk or drive to the main shops & farmers market. Also a short drive to many lovely beaches. The breakfast was incredible - and they even accomodated gluten-free. Really great overall, great deal and we'll stay again if on Hilo!"

"Buscaba un sitio tranquilo para descansar y patear la isla y acerté. La general manager muy simpática y el chico que había con ella también. Podría haber estado una semana más"
