"We had a few hiccups when we arrived. The doorman brought our bags to the room but didn't mention the amenities. He was very nonchalant about it, and when we asked about the air conditioning, he just pointed to the unit. Nowadays, the customer service level seems laissez-faire because of staff turnover or a general lack of care. We called the front desk about both the coffee maker and the small fridge, which they insisted was a "cooler," since we put our leftovers from Bourbon in Steak in the night before, only to find in the morning that the "frig" wasn't working. We asked for a pot of coffee from room service, which arrived undrinkable, bitter, and cold, without any napkins, to find out when we left for the morning there was complimentary coffee and croissants and muffins - would have been nice if we had been informed upon arrival.
They did take off the upgrade charges, but we had to insist, which wasn't what we planned. We wanted a nice stay in an upscale hotel without all this drama."
