They then showed me around and proceeded to assist with carrying luggage up the stairs to my room, above and beyond customer service - as with everywhere in Japan. A nice quiet accommodation with an instant friendly warmth when you walk through the door. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay here."

"The hosts were super kind and friendly, and the rooms, bathrooms were super clean. The common area is cozy and perfect to have a talk with people staying in the same hostel. It’s also really central and a2 min walk from the main station"

"Owner was very kind and prepared very good dinner even we requested in very late time. It is Japanese style room, so if you are not used to futon it might be hard. Room is very spacious and confortable. Shower is in common place, next to onsen. It is also convenient that there is also an small drugstore to buy some snacks or drinks"

"Guest House Ouka is amazing!! The rooms and common area are very comfortable. The staff is so friendly and accomodating. They have tons of food and entertainment recommendations on the walls so I didn't have any worries about how to spend my time in Takayama. Lastly, they had unlimited free tea in the kitchen."
