"Check in was Awesome. Unfortunately I don’t remember her name, but she was great. Probably the best mattress I have slept on in a hotel in all my travels. Only complaint is when we had breakfast at the restaurant the coffee was cold and our breakfast was lukewarm and we went when they opened, Another then that it was a great stay!"

"The Scotia Lodge was a charming and fun place to stay. It's an older hotel that dates back several decades, but you can tell that a lot of work has been put into updating and maintaining the building, the rooms and the grounds. The location is great too: only a short drive to the Avenue of the Giants and Humboldt State Park in one direction, and Fortuna in the other with Eureka only a short drive further. The staff were very helpful to us, too, in helping store my mountain bike overnight so that I could rest easy, knowing it was secure. Staff were unfailingly friendly."

"Ours was a one-night stay to access the Avenue of the Giants. The location was good for that. The kitchen was well-equipped. The property was secure, behind a gate. I liked having an extra half-bath and laundry onsite.However, I don't think I would stay again due to one bed that squeaked badly, no air conditioning (it was quite warm upstairs, and opening the windows brought in constant traffic noise on Highway 101 below; I resorted to the provided electric fan, which only helped a bit), and the upstairs bath with a difficult-to-access bath/shower combo (narrow and high) and no adequate surface to put toiletries. I expected more at this price point."
