"The staff at the Scenic were friendly and most helpful. Good location and easy to get around the city. Many of the sites were within walking distance."
"This is a wonderful hotel but was very disappointed with the staff on check in. We arrived after 2pm, check in was 2pm, and the room wasn't ready. We sat in the foyer for almost an hour then when I approached the Duty Manager he me told the room had been ready for awhile. Clearly they hadn't noted that I was sitting in the foyer with a person in a wheelchair and approached us to say that the room was ready.
Secondly in order to eat at the in-house restaurant we were made to go out in the cold and go through the kitchen. There is clearly no wheelchair access to the restaurant and this is not made clear or signposted anywhere that we could see. In other places we have stayed they have had a chair lift that will take the person in the wheelchair to the dining room. This was some what disappointing and extremely demeaning to have to go through the kitchen. Notwithstanding that we had to exit the building on a very cold morning in order to get to the restaurant for breakfast"
"Such a special spot - so peaceful & natural. We soaked up the views & the cosy hot-tub.Excellent kitchen facilities & some lovely outdoor areas to just sit back & chill. We arrived jet-lagged & stressed, but left calm & content.Thank you so much Glenn for sharing your little slice of South Island heaven."
"Kingsgate Hotel Dunedin was conveniently located for walking downtown (& returning UPHILL!); however, their on-site restaurant was closed "until further notice" (we never saw any work being done on the restaurant!) so the "included breakfast" was quite limited! (The breakfast staff tried their best, but the selections of breakfast foods were minimal, at best.) Most importantly, this hotel has VERY LIMITED PARKING, which is apparently supposed to be booked in advance but we were not informed of that fact at booking, nor in the welcome email that was sent to us 2 days before our stay!! We were highly upset and the manager told us to "just park in ANY OPEN SPACE" (which I'm sure inconvenienced someone else -- but what were we to do!?!) Overall, probably would not stay here again."
