"We got in late at night prior to boarding a cruise the next day. We almost didn’t realize that it was a hotel upon entering, because the check-in was at a bar, but it was a very cool and welcoming atmosphere. The man who assisted us was incredibly friendly and courteous. The room was clean and well-maintained. For a single night, which was the case for our vacation, it was the perfect accommodations."

"Who was contemporary and nicely designed?
The room was extremely hot. No air conditioning 80° plus. I asked them to fix the air conditioner. They told me that they couldn’t do anything about it, and they offered to give me another fan but we already had two fans in the room. I don’t think that room was worth $280. Very disappointing."

"We stayed at the White Star for only
One night and throughly enjoyed it. Great location. Lovely rooms with a comfortable bed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed a dinner & breakfast in the restaurant. Both delicious meals. Highly recommend this place."

"We were in Southampton on one of the hottest days of the year. The hotel is not air conditioned. A small fan was provided, but it was an unbearably uncomfortable night and neither of us were able to sleep. I have stayed at the Novotel numerous times over the past two decades and the hotel is increasingly dated and tired, especially the bathrooms. Considering increasingly hot summers, the owners of the hotel should invest in Air Conditioning."

"The on site staff were excellent, with several employees showing great commitment to making our stay as good as it could be.
Unfortunately, the standard of maintenance disappointed and ws exposed by the hot oppressive atmosphere in the building and in our room in particular. The cooling system was totally dysfunctional and our room was permanently very hot and stuffy, dangerously so in my opinion. "Room was clean. The room had working air conditioning. Breakfast was excellent. Would recommend this Southampton hotel. Location was adequate with goid access to the train station and a lengthy (30 minutes) walk to the old town center.
For the American travelers, the hotel does not provide wash cloths with the towels. Odd. Nonetheless, a very nice hotel."
