We loved the antique elevator, the wine and nibbles in the evening, the welcoming wine bottle in the room, there’s so many little gems at this hotel. We can’t wait to stay here again!
We loved our stay at the White Swan Inn when we were visiting San Francisco for two evenings. The location is perfect. We were able to easily walk to areas such as Chinatown and the Cable Car Museum. We were only a couple of blocks from public transportation and rode the bus, train, and cable car. We didn't have to use our car at all during our stay.
As soon as we arrived, Cody was a great asset to our stay. He gave us such helpful information as to where to eat, how to get around, and even where to park for a better deal. He really enhanced our stay.
The room was large and very nicely decorated. We enjoyed the wine and nibbles the first evening and breakfast both mornings. The inn was quiet and had great amenities, such as microwave, refrigerator, robes, and even a box fan that really helped to circulate air. I'm very pleased with our stay and would definitely recommend this to any one staying in the area.
Great older style hotel. The room was very homey and comfortable with a fireplace. Good breakfast and excellent staff. Nice wine and cheese in the afternoon.
Excellent location near restaurants, Union Sq and the BART /Muni. Curtis gave great service at check-in and recommended very good restaurants. We will surely return on our next visit to SF.
The breakfast was good, the rest areas were nice. All the employees were super friendly, from the lobby to the people in charge of breakfast. Nice touches in the room like water and wine.
Our stay at White Swan Inn was wonderful. The staff were incredibly warm, kind, and full of helpful local recommendations, making us feel genuinely welcomed.
The location is excellent — an easy walk to Chinatown and great Italian restaurants in North Beach. Breakfast was fresh and satisfying, and we loved the cozy, living-room-style space next to the breakfast area. It felt inviting and comfortable, like staying in a charming home.
We would happily stay here again.
The hotel was clean and the location was great. The staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast/afternoon snacks were delightful. Only complaint was the street noise, two out of my three night stay I was kept awake by truck emptying recycling which seem to go on for over an hour. I understand that it’s an older building and an urban location. I would still stay here again.
This is one of my absolute favorite hotels of all time. The location is great, the staff is always friendly and helpful, and rooms with a fireplace?! Absolutely amazing... Highly recommended!!
We arrived about 45 minutes after the check-in time of 3 PM. It took about half an hour to get checked in as there were four parties needing to be checked in and only one staff member to help guests, and he seemed a bit overwhelmed. That said, he was friendly and made recommendations for places for us to go while in the city. I did find it odd that by the time he was ready to assign a room to us he had to check to see that the room was ready, even though it was after 4 PM by this point, more than an hour past the hotel’s check-in time. We finally got checked in and up to our room and I went to close all the blinds on the windows and there were underwear hanging from one of the window latches. I called down to guest services informing them of the underwear, but it was quite a bit of time before anyone came up to retrieve them from our room. Given the underwear on the window, a cosmetic cap on the bathroom floor, as well as a sticky TV remote, I didn’t have much faith that the room was thoroughly cleaned. I’m not really sure how this hotel has such a great rating, but I would not stay here again.
So many things to like. Vintage floral decor, and operating quite vintage elevator. Charmingly laid out breakfast, and nice early start for breakfast, 7:30. Staff friendly and helpful. Comfortable bed and cozy sitting area in room with fireplace. Great location too. What more could one want? I’m coming back
This is not a typical modern hotel, but a somewhat old fashioned bed and breakfast. It is very conveniently located near Union Square, the Powell St Bart stop, the trolley, and plenty of sights and restaurants. We also walked to Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf and Ghiradelli square, which is a bit hilly. The hotel itself is charming, spacious, clean, and staffed by very friendly and helpful people. The bed is comfortable. The room is big and has a gas fire place. The breakfast included toast, eggs, oatmeal, fruit and my favorite thing, the cinnamon bun breakfast bread! We also enjoyed the very pleasant wine and cheese reception before dinner. For both, the staff was attentive and gracious and the offerings were generous. Alas, a very minor dissatisfaction, was the street noise on Bush St, which required closing the windows. But, given the opportunity, I would most definitely stay at the White Swan Inn again. Thank you all, for making our stay very enjoyable.

Very nice hotel. We enjoyed the small boutique feel and the lovely staff. Also liked the free breakfast in the morning, and they also offer a happy hour nightly!
