The Bikini Bungalow of South Mission Beach!

Welcome to South Mission Beach! Where you can surf, fish, play volleyball, bask in the sun, go for morning runs on the boardwalk (bay and beachside), sail, ride a fake wave, eat ice cream cones, and ride a roller coaster while you watch waves break on the beautiful sand. The amenities are endless and relaxing on this peninsula. The area is quaint and you begin to feel like a local in no time.

This beautiful condo has a 1000 sq feet of living space with 2 large bedrooms and a large kitchen and dining area. The front includes a spacious front patio for you and your guests to enjoy BBQs and visiting time during your vacation. The cottage sleeps 6 comfortably & 8 can be accommodated! Make sure to read the added amenities...you will be amazed!

It's time to relax and have fun. All you have to do is get here and exhaust yourself playing in the ocean and running on the sand. At night, you can melt into the luxurious linens. Sleep as the ocean air rejuvenates your soul.

2 large bathrooms and an outside shower are helpful for getting ready to hit the town later in the evening.

Great location

Great location a few steps from Mission Beach. We had plenty of room for our family of 4. Parking is tight in the neighborhood if bringing a vehicle - we were able to make it work. Nice property!

Amazing location and close to everything

The property is located right off the beach with everything within close proximity. The property is well kept and updated although there are some signs of age. But nothing of concern. One reserved parking space was available which was a great perk at the location. Kids enjoyed all the beach toys provided and the bunk bed was also great for kids.

We loved our stay at this property. The location was great, beach access was awesome and it was quiet. We had everything we needed! The bathrooms needs some updating but otherwise the home was a very nice getaway!

Great place clean and tidy

Group of a friends, place was just 4 mins walk to beach. Rooms are clean , everything inside home is updated and new. Tess is agreat hist and respinds promptly .

Christmas visit

We want to thank you for sharing your home with us. We rented for ten days through the Christmas holiday. The house was perfect for our family! Our son is currently living on the next street over and this allowed us to share the holiday together. We enjoyed a Christmas cookout on the patio and a fire in the evening. The open kitchen had all the appliances and cookware we needed. The large dining area provided space for family meals and a lot of game playing. The location was great as well and we enjoyed walks along the beach each day. We will rent again if the opportunity arises!

Nice little spot

We were very comfortable. Lots of space inside and outside of the home. A few updates and repairs could be made, but overall, we enjoyed our time and would definitely stay again.

Clean and Comfortable Stay

This home conveniently located to Mission Beach and the boardwalk was clean and comfortable from the moment you walked in the door. Our host, love, special touches and much thought was put into the detail of hospitality. We were able to reach out to them when we needed to communicate and the entire stay was very accommodating.

Beach Bonfire

Property was clean and beachy decor just as pictured. Management had cute birthday balloon, candy and decor which was a thoughtful touch. We enjoyed a nice beach bonfire in the pit closest to the property. It worked out just fine but I wish there had been some info on how to set that up. Easy walk to food, coffee and Belmont Park.

My Family, for the last 2 years have rented this property during the Summer. Not only is the Owner unbelievably accommodating, but she has always gone above and beyond to make sure we're happy. Another plus is the location, you can't be its proximity to the beach and the quietness of being off the main boardwalk. Perfect size for a family, yet big enough to stretch out. Neighbors are also top notch! Unfortunately last year our trip was cut short due to a family death, but we look forward to being at the beach again soon! Thank you Tess...the son of a very happy Renter.

Great location

The home is in a fantastic location, the perfect space for our family of 4 adults and three kids. The firepit was perfect for relaxing that evening. The primary bedroom had a foam/egg crate mattress topper and very worn pillows, and the towels were cheap and thin. I would recommend bringing a pillow. The property is charming but old. So, two people cannot shower simultaneously, and the water will get scalding hot (dangerous for littles) or frozen cold. just beware The home was dirty which was surprising because there is a $230 cleaning fee. We had dust bunnies in our shoes, and the house would benefit from a deep cleaning. It is charming and in a great location, but I am slightly disappointed in the cost vs value. Please note that there is only one small dedicated parking spot. We had two cars, and one had to park a quarter mile away.

Adorable house in South Mission beach

We stay in Mission beach often as our son attends college here in SD but this was our first time renting a house in the South End and it will not be our last! This house was just as described and in such a great location we walked everywhere. It’s a quieter area of mission beach with other families with teens and littles staying around us, beach volleyball courts less than a minute away and less than a 15 minute walk to Belmont Park and beach restaurants which we LOVED. The house was just as described and the owner even left a sweet note, treats and a water bowl for our dog upon arrival. My 15 year old daughter said this was her favorite home/location on Mission Beach this far! Thank you so much for making our stay for the week comfortable and relaxing. We hope to be back soon!!

Relaxing Stay; Home away from Home

Our recent stay at the Bikini Bungalow was fantastic! All the amenitites of home were made available to us, including everything we needed for the beach. Onsite laundry when traveling with little ones makes life so much easier, too. The house was more than spacious enough for our family of 4 and is located just steps away from the beautiful beach and the peaceful bay where you have a perfectly uninterrupted view of Sea World's fireworks every night. We enjoyed many evenings grilling on the patio and walking the nearby boardwalk. The beach bikes were a hit with our 13 year old! A car is not really necessary unless you plan to leave the beach area for sight seeing as we did. As mentioned in other's reviews the only possible downfall would be that parking is EXTREMELY tight - rent a car not an SUV if possible as other parking is very limited. Tess, the owner, was very helpful and quick to answer all our questions. If we plan to visit San Diego again, we would book the Bikini Bungalow again without hesitation!

Summer Rental Experience in South Mission Beach

Overall our stay at the Bikini Bungalow was good. The property is very accommodating and the location to the beach is excellent. The photo in the property would lead one to believe that you can walk out from the property right onto the beach. This is not accurate. There are two concerns that anyone wanting to rent this property should be aware of. This is a lower unit with another rental unit located above it. During our stay a family of 12,yes 12 rented the unit above us. The noise was very loud most of the time. The other little issue that no one seems to mention for all of the rental properties in this general area is that you are in the direct takeoff path for jets taking off from San Diego International airport. From 6:35 am to 10:30 pm jets fly directly over this property. At times a plane takes off every 8 minutes. The sound is loud to the point that you can not carry on a conversation with your guests. This is an issue for all of the properties in this general area and is not mentioned in any of the postings for South Mission Beach.

Good only for beach access

If you want to be close to the beach this is the place to be! There is no beach view or ocean view but a few steps out the door will get you to the beach. Your view is houses across the way. You are in the bottom unit. The front patio furniture is falling a part, the kitchen oven didn’t work, the water dispenser in the fridge didn’t work, there were 2 bowls for 6 of us, plenty of plates. The queen bed and bunk beds were horribly uncomfortable to sleep on. The bed in the master was comfortable which was a relief. There was on going construction on our block so we had no access to parking as it states there is a car port. Not happening for us! And parking in the street with all of the construction equipment made it so inconvenient. The host was easy to reach especially when our coffee pot had green mold inside as the cleaning co. Never cleaned it. And she was quick to replace it so I appreciated that the host immediately bought a new one and had it delivered. The kitchen floor seemed dirty when we checked it. Chips snacks and wine greeted us when we arrived however I would not stay here again. Nor would I recommend this to people.

Family Vacation

The property was perfect for our family Vacation. Our girls loved being able to sleep on bunk beds and there was plenty of room for the 6 of us. Including 4 adults and 2 children. We loved having just a 1 minute walk to the beach and having a full closet of beach toys and supplies was so helpful.
