"This little gem of a hotel is tucked into a quiet area just a few minutes walk from the train station. The staff was so kind and helpful. The food at the on site restaurant was amazing, the locals in the bar were friendly, and the rooms were comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. There was a large parking lot and local trails for walking. We got our laundry done for a very reasonable price, left folded/hung in our room. Highly recommend! "

"This is the 2nd time we have stayed here. The place is not new but it appears to have been high quality in its day and it is well maintained. The hotel is not near shopping, etc. but that wasn’t important to us. It is easily accessible off the freeway. The staff are nice as well. We enjoyed the breakfast."
"Stayed at The Gables for a weekend in August 2025. Had a wonderful experience, and the convenient location of The Gables made our lives easy. The hostess, Mary, was an absolute diamond. She greeted us warmly and provided us with a wonderful cooked breakfast each morning. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Would highly recommend a stay at The Gables for anyone looking for somewhere homely and welcoming within a short drive to Edinburgh. "
