The service was really great and we felt so welcome from the moment we’ve arrived with first of all a tour around the hotel and our appartment, our host gave us some great advice on good restaurants, walks and other things to know to have the best time in Madeira. "Hotel PortoBay Santa Maria is a gem. Location is perfect, right in a center of Old town, close to cable to the Monte Palace and Mercado. We had an ocean view, which was a nice upgrade. Breakfast has everything you can imagine with a very attentive staff and beautiful atmosphere. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Live music in the evening in a bar area. I would greatly recommend this hotel to the future visitors f Funchal."

I had a hard copy of Expedia Reservation but there was only one twin room available and the other room was a Queen. The room smelled like raw sewage. The breakfast room had one coffee machine and the line was 10 people long during breakfast. "

When we arrived the reception staff were very friendly and gave us a brief tour, when our room was ready we were again escorted there by a member of reception.
