Older hotel but in a great location in Funchal. Walkable area, shopping mall with grocery store within 2 minutes walking distance. Lots of restaurants nearby. The rooftop pool was well maintained although we didn’t have time to use it, the rooftop views were great. The breakfast buffet was good, although repetitive as all hotel breakfasts are. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Madeira.

One of its greatest advantages is its outstanding central location, within easy walking distance of restaurants, cafés, shops, the waterfront, and many of Funchal’s main attractions. It’s an ideal base for exploring the city and discovering everything Madeira has to offer. The staff were very welcoming and the hotel has recently been refurbished. It was our third time here and the improvements they have made since our first visit in 2010 are very noticeable and have brought the hotel up to a much higher standard.

Staff, especially at the bar, was very nice. The room was very spacious and clean. The pool and rooftop were an excellent amenity and the location was central to everything by the water and beautiful gardens. The breakfast was delicious and varied, very fresh with fresh baked bread and pastels de nata.

The breakfast was delicious with lots of choices. Room was bright and clean. The hotel is right in the center with easy walking to everywhere you'd want to go. We were greated with a smile and checked out with a smile. We'd stay there again.
