"The hotel is part of the service area on the A1 but, unlike most such hotels, it offers good food as well as comfortable accommodation. We were impressed with the welcome we received - and our dog was happy with the positive attention he received! The chap on reception was able to recommend a good parking spot in Bamburgh, where we were keen to take the dog for a long walk! All in all, a good place to stop!"

"Had two nights here. The room and the bed were comfortable. The room was a little draughty due to the age of the property and the old style windows. The bathroom was one of the smallest I have ever experienced. It was also incredibly damp, towels would not dry and there was no extractor fan. The room was also quite light, a lot of light came round the edges of the door and the curtains. The highlights were the wonderful decor in the breakfast room and lobby areas, which had been taken from the Olympic (the Titanic's sister ship). That really made it feel special. The breakfast was also very good and the staff were amazing and lovely. There was free parking but we couldn't always get a space. However there was also a free car park behind."

"Liked: Clean and modern facilities such as coffee machine and Quooker tap, the location (the Plough Inn and the lunch at the cafe inside (Running Fox) was very good, however it stops serving food after 3.30pm and the pub doesn't provide dinner. We had to drive to Longframlington for dinner. ) It is a lovely cottage and it is in a beautiful area. (Saw a pheasant in the garden as well) Didn't like: The toilet seats are too high. You need to be 175cm or taller to sit on them with your feet touching the floor. Even if it was very clean, the toilet smelled a bit when I opened the toilet door. I think the toilet doors and the shower doors need to be opened after use as there's no extractor fans; instead there is air circulation system running for the whole house. We had to empty the dishwasher ourselves when we checked in."

"The room was beautiful and the breakfast was lovely. Unfortunately, the dinner was not so good. It’s quite expensive for what you get, I ordered fish and chips and the chips tasted like they had been reheat and weren’t very nice at all."

"Quite the gem of a cottage in a lovely area. Clean and well appointed, check in was without a hitch, dog friendly and dog secure. It would have been great if the pub was still open but the Plough Inn in the next village sufficed. Whilst there is no carparking at the cottage, you can get your car very close for the purposes of unloading/loading, parking on the street was easy and available."

Well placed for visiting well known historical places such as pretty Alnick and its Castle only six miles away. Banburgh castle, Lindisfarne and Cragside all within easy reach. "Lovely cottage, super clean and beautifully renovated. We really appreciated the crisps and dog treats :) Parking right outside was handy. Beautiful log burner for a cosy night. Beds were super comfy. My daughter loved the smart-tech in the bathroom showing how much her shower cost. A bit tricky with our 4-legged friends. Stairs too steep for our small dogs, but we barricaded the bottom with our suitcases ok. We were expecting a Deck/Patio as listed but its an open area down some stone steps, so be ready to pop your dogs on the lead if they need to go out. Host was very friendly and instructions were super clear."

"Beautiful little cottage with stunning views, host was friendly and easy to get in touch with. The space was family/dog friendly and clean with plenty of amenities. The only thing we were hoping for was a washing machine but we were able to do a couple of hand washes whilst we were there. Would recommend and would definitely return!"
