The Lounge Hotel and Bar

8/10 Good

"Staff were friendly and helpful on arrival, showing us where to park. The cooler breakfast was really nice. The room was absolutely boiling and even with the windows open all evening it was a poor nights sleep. No aircon and only a little fan. Very firm mattress but it realise this is preference. My husband loved it but I didn’t sleep at all. Close to amenities and nice and quiet. Overall would stay again."

"Astaff very friendly, very accommodating with my daughter's medication storage needs. Nice room decorated in the Victorian style, beds were clean and comfy. Dinner was delicious and well worth the price of only £25 for two courses. Beautiful setting in the fells of shap lovely for a walk with red squirrels to spot while out and about star gazing is possible with extremely low light pollution."

"On arrival warm welcome from Nikki, and given room key, room clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. Had evening meal the three nights we stayed, and can honestly say all food from the steak pie to fish and chips, excellent choices thought out the menu, and all cooked to perfection by Alan, also breakfast each morning, The hotel is run only by Nikki and Alan, and Nikki was none stop from breakfast to evening meal, always on the go, but was always cheerful, always had time to have a chat. Would definitely recommend the Troutbeck Inn just few minutes of the main A66, and central for visiting around the lakes."

Haweswater Hotel

8/10 Good

"The location is spectacular as was the weather. Kate the manager is exceptional, she had agency staff who were a credit to her but new one had been there 2 hours, a chef walked out and she was cooking as well as running and managing everything including a power cut. The hotel is tired we had a suite and the plugs didn’t work in the bath and shower, the bath was also chipped. If they spent the money and invested in the proper and staff it would be awesome, the garden needed mowing and was generally untidy. The food was ok but expensive for what it was. Overall Kate and the team made the weekend."
