"I like the property itself, it’s a small place a bit out of the beaten path but the room is pretty much an apartment and as there are only few rooms and a common area, feels ideal for 2 or 3 couples traveling together. Just be aware it’s a bit far from town"

"We highly recommend this property. Very relaxing location right by the ocean, you can hear the waves crashing on the rocks below. Beautiful view of the sunrise from the upstairs or downstairs porches.This house is on the edge of a sea cliff so does not have direct access to the waterfront or a beach. Nonetheless it is an excellent base for exploring The Big Island. Quick drive of 5 minutes into the heart of Hilo. Approximately hour and a half to Kona/West coast depending on where you are going. Owner very responsive and helpful. All beds comfortable. Everything works perfectly. Kitchen well-stocked with pots, pans, cooking utensils, etc. We were pleasantly surprised to discover snorkeling equipment available for use, along with beach shoes for exploring the rocky tidepools. Table on upstairs porch big enough for 8-10 people to dine. We would definitely stay here again and give this location our highest recommendation."

"Kim and James’s cottage was the perfect home base for exploring Big Island’s trails and beaches. Waking up to breakfast with an ocean view and the Pacific breeze was a highlight. The place was spotless, nearly insect-free, and stayed cool enough without AC. It’s ideal for two or three people. The kitchen is simple but has everything you need to cook your own meals, and there are plenty of nearby spots with great local food. James welcomed us personally and was always ready to help, which made us feel truly cared for. Kim’s artwork in the house adds a lovely personal touch. Thank you both for sharing your beautiful place."

"What a lovely place to stay! We usually stay in Kona but we’re hoping to see some Volcano action so chose to stay a couple of nights closer to Hilo. Now I wish we had stayed here the whole time. Yes you hear the frogs but with the windows closed you barely hear them. It’s a very green, beautiful property. So nice to sit on the lanai and enjoy the surroundings. The hosts left a tasty variety of local fruit and the delicious banana bread. You have access to water and ice too. We would definitely stay there again. "

"My husband and I had the most enjoyable stay at the Huilili Farm. The Pineapple cottage was so comfortable, and had everything we needed. Both the inside bed and the outside hanging bed were super comfy. It took a lot of will power to get out of the hanging bed on the lanai to go sightseeing. We enjoyed visiting Akaka Falls and the town of Honomu and its eateries, as well as the Hakalau trail (if you are concerned about bugs—mosquito repellent was effective). The lychees and stargazing at night were just two of many memorable highlights. Thank you, Todd and Madeleine, for sharing the farm and for the most relaxing getaway ever!"

"This place is surrounded by nature. It’s a glamping experience as you are surrounded by the waterfall and various animals. You can even swim in the waterfall. They have 2 restrooms and showers, kitchen, dining, and tv about 20 feet from your sleeping area shared by guests from 3 lodges. They clean the restrooms and kitchen area daily. "
