Although we visited the town's public beach one day, we did appreciate having a private area on the beach. The host was great with communication. There is plenty to do in the area - our family went Horseback riding at Circle B Ranch, rail biking riding in North Creek, and took a summer ski lift ride up Gore Mountain. "Highland Cottage is a great local stay in Lake Placid. Yes, the bed is up in the loft and you can’t stand up, but that was no issue for us. We loved the place and will be back."

The hosts were good communicators and went above and beyond, offering to do things that they wouldn't be required to do, like early check in. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies. We had a nice fire and enjoyed our stay. Our suggestions for improvement. The light in the main room was very bright. A dimmer light switch would have been appreciated.
