"We stayed here for about 4 nights and everything went well. There are two sections of the palace...one where the hotel reception is connected to and the other is a stand along building across the street. We've read online that one of the sections was the "newer" renovated one and I think that was the section with the hotel reception. We stayed in other section across the street and it was fine. It doesn't look so outdated that you can tell/feel it's vastly different. Every night, there is some type of special music or performance by the pool. That was a nice touch and appreciated. Everyone is very friendly as well. We opted for the daily parking of 8 euros and that came in pretty handy. There can be street parking but it is limited and you will have to drive around the side streets for one. "

"The hotel is perfect for a beachy, chilled holiday if that’s what you enjoy. The small town has some shops etc which is good and Chania is only a 30 minute drive away along with Souda which are beautiful towns. Especially the Chania markets! A must go to if you love a bargain! The hotel could be somewhat more clear on what is included etc. The hotel is amazing so don’t let that put you off but we were told the tourist charge was €10 euro per room, per night, which is correct but we were also charged extra and we’re unsure really what that was for. Also we have been twice to this hotel, the first time when booking we had the option available to go all inclusive plus but the second time that option wasn’t available until we arrived at the hotel and it was quite steep compared to the first time we visited the hotel and with not much difference to the basic all inclusive package. After all a gin and tonic is a gin and tonic be that from the local gin or branded big name gin. Overall though, lovely place to stay and the staff are amazing! So helpful and super polite! Will absolutely be back again! "

"This place is an absolute gem. The rooms are large, the bed is very comfortable, the shower is big with a rain shower head. Everything is bright and clean. The rooms are quiet. The staff are very friendly and inviting. The maids do a great job cleaning the rooms. The breakfast that is served has fresh fruit, cheeses, eggs, crepes and cappuccino and coffee. The scenery that breakfast is of mountains and rolling fields of olive trees. The pools are crystal clear and refreshing. This place on our goto place when in Crete."

"In general great place to stay with small children, great facilities, fun events for children. Swimming pools are anyone can desire, outside, inside non heated, inside heated. If one wants beach that is also available, sandy strip is just 500m away to the side if necessary. Staff is really polite and helpful, buffet all inclusive food is not boring and selection can satisfy most i am sure. Rooms are clean and on top of that they are cleaned every day, new towels, fresh floor. Absolutely recomended, this was our favourite when compare to similar price Mallorca or Sardinia resorts that we have visited before."

"I communicated a late arrival due to missed plane. They were aware and responded to that. Enjoyed our stay and will stay again in the future. Great view from dining area on roof. Great walk to the tourist area by the water. "

"We stayed at Civitas for 9 days and it was a wonderful experience . The location in Old Town Was the Best! We can’t say enough about the Staff, they were all so welcoming and helpful we really felt at home here . Our breakfast was amazing lovely area to enjoy the morning as well beautiful view of the harbour . If you don’t like stairs than I would recommend one of the apartments that are all on one level . Very beautiful and spacious . We will recommend this unique hotel to any friends we know that are coming to Beautiful Rhythmno ❤️😊"

"I stayed here in Sept/24. Obviously, I enjoyed it enough to give it another try. I am an adamant non-smoker. On my last stay I brought it up. Reception tried to rid the room of smoke but it really didn't help as it was thick as soup. I mentioned upon reserving I really didn't want to go through that again. I also mentioned I would like to get some breakfast before it was actually served (8 to 10AM). I missed out on my last stay. I am happy to say both small issues from last time were no longer issues on this visit thanks to a young gentleman named Phillip who was only eager to assist with a smile. I was also able to extend my checkout time upon departure without a dreaded money grabbing fee. Luggage storage is also available with a smile (Yanis) so you can enjoy Rethymno to its fullest. To me the greatest virtue of this property is reception. They don't roll their eyes or give a heavy sigh at requests. They indeed want you happy and returning. Breakfast has numerous choices even for the fussiest eaters such as myself. The smallest downfall is the bed and pillows. The support was not firm as I like but we are all different. Even though Room #503 faced the street any outside noise was minimal. Job well done!! "
