"What a wonderful place, both Peter and Sheila make you welcome upon arrival (make sure you ring the bell to the right of the main door to get thier attention). I stayed one night in the twin tweed room over looking the gorgeous countryside to the front and sides of the property. Its a traditional house built around 1830, with high ceilings and large rooms. The decor and furniture are high standard providing a comfy and relaxed atmosphere. The ensuite is well appointed, having a strong and hot shower head to relax those aching muscles. Toiletries and gorgeous white towels await you and a fine dressing robe too. I found the bed very comfy, in fact I fell asleep in no time and woke only to my morning alarm...high praise You can select a range of items for breakfast youre hosts will ask you the night before for youre choice. I feasted on fruit/yogurt, toast and then traditional English with vine tomatoes, quality black pudding and rich poached eggs..yummy. I can highly recommend the East Horton Farmhouse "

"We had a great stay here recently. We stayed in Room 4 which is a tad unusual as it has no window in the main area. There is a window in the bathroom so you can have natural light provided the door is open. Not a problem for us tbh as the room was completely dark overnight. The room is quite basic with a small TV and a double bed (at home we have a king size, so it was smaller than we are used to). It was spotlessly clean. We had a good meal in the bar, a couple of drinks which was competitively priced. Service was excellent and friendly. Pooch was made welcome too. Breakfast was also really good although the sausage was a little bland and at odds with the quality of the bacon and black pudding. Once again our dog was allowed in the restaurant area too. So to conclude: an excellent stopover that is very dog friendly, lovely staff, good food and a reasonably comfy room all for £75. We would stay again when in the area. Thanks "

"This is a lovely hotel, staff were great, food was fabulous. They have an excellent pastry chef. It’s a relaxed hotel in a quiet area. Very handy for travelling by car from Newcastle. One point, some rooms are directly above the function room and there was a wedding on when we were there. They lit fire pits which meant our room quickly filled with the smell of smoke. We had wanted our bedroom window open at night but couldn’t because of the fire pits, even when they moved them round the corner the smoke was still coming into the room. It’s also a bit noisy if you have a room above the function room as wedding guests came outside. However, the weddings stop at midnight so you can get to sleep after that. "

"Right in the centre; a proper local pub. Don't expect top class luxury but for the price, it's great value. Clean comfort room and bathroom, good evening menu and a perfect breakfast. Very friendly staff. I'd definitely stay again."
