We stayed for 3 nights in the Hetton bedroom. Very clean, lovely bathroom and comfy bed. Just the pillows that I didn’t get on with. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice both hot and cold. On two of our three evenings we ate in the inn and the food was great, cannot fault any of it. Lovely, friendly staff. Great position for travelling to all the sights in Northumberland. We will definitely stay again.

We have just stayed here for 4 nights and would highly recommend. The room was very clean and had everything we needed .Even though we were on the ground floor at the back we did not experience any noise from the bar or restaurant. In fact the only noise we heard was the cars on the gravel in the car park. The food was excellent there was so much choice for breakfast. The evening menu was amazing all locally sourced food. We tried several dishes and all of them were so tasty and the portions were just right. This place is a little gem in a lovely quiet village. If you are visiting this part of the country stay here you won’t be disappointed!

Fantastic base for a trip to Berwick and Lindisfarne. The staff could not have been more helpful and we enjoyed an excellent dinner and breakfast, the locally sourced ingredients being of high quality. The bedroom was clean and the whole pub appeared to have been recently freshened up. We would definitely stay here again if we’re in the area.

The room was very big and spacious. It was very clean and came with en suite too. There was a back door to the car parking area, which was a nice touch to load/unload your cases. The bar was nice with seating areas for food in the evening, just like a restaurant. The food was exceptional in the evening and at breakfast. The service was too. Staff were very friendly and courteous. We really enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it.

A great one night stop over on our return to York from the Island of Skye. After 8 hours travelling the inn was a welcome sight. Staff lovely. Bar well stocked. Food excellent - can recommend the Venison Pie! Breakfast was great too. Plenty to fill up with. Prices were very good too. Only tiny gripe was the room was a little too warm. No air conditioning (which we didn’t expect it to have) but a fan would have been an improvement. We would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

We had a wonderful stay here. Rooms are lovely as is the rest of the place. It’s a very warm welcoming environment in the bar. We ended up talking to loads of locals and fellow hotel goers. The food was superb. Highly recommended and we will definitely return.

lovely clean warm room with large bathroom. Well provisioned with water ,teas and coffees. Very attentive staff who made sure we were fed and watered. We have now used the Black bull twice for stay overs and cant fault it. Easy parking, great bar and tasty ,quality food.
