This property could be something beautiful, but instead it’s not taken care of at all. There’s bugs and cobwebs inside and outside everywhere. Leftover trash, bottles and lighters everywhere on the beach and in the immediate surrounding areas, causing more seagulls attacking us and sitting on our car, waiting for more leftovers to be shared. Bird crap and cobwebs all over the plastic chairs. A broken unsafe futon, ceiling fan that didn’t work, no paper towels on hand, plastic wrap on a ceiling light. No refund even though we left after 15 minutes of being there. It’s gross and disgusting for any families that care about a sense of hospitality and return investment on their hard-earned money being spent on a genuine family vacation. We went down the street at a typical hotel chain and had a better experience where it was kept clean, including their beach. So very disappointed the beachside-cabin was not cleaned or maintained well enough to stay.

Great Vacation

Small cabin right on the beach. Excellent location to watch 4th of July fireworks and within 20 minutes of everything you would want to do in the area. Check-in and check-out were simple.

Excellent for a family of 4!

We visited for 4 nights and had a great time. The location was perfect! It was within a mile of everything. Our kids loved being on the beach. The water was shallow and clean. The cabin was clean and worked well for our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kiddos ages 6 and 9). We would visit again. Some other reviews indicated concerns with the motel near the cabins. It is dated, but everything at the motel was clean and well taken care of. We had no concerns with the cabjns being near the motel.

Fantastic stay!!

Cabin was clean and exactly as described. Eazy check-in process with immaculate views. Recommend to anyone for alone time with a partner and tons of stuff to do if traveling with little ones. Definitely coming back in the future.

Meandering in Michigan

My husband and I enjoyed this property tremendously. We were able to relax in the living room, eat our breakfast at the table in the kitchen, and sit directly on the beach. The cabin is within walking distance to the Mackinac Island Ferry boats. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.

Amazing Views

Nice little cabin close to everything. As others have said communication with host is not great. Very clean place, would be nice if there was a broom or vacuum on site to clean up sand. (As you are on the beach) Would be nice if there were hooks to hang bath towels inside and outside of bathroom.

Great stay right on the beach!

My family of six loved staying in this adorable cabin on the beach. The space inside and outside was great. It would have been nice to have a sponge as well as a broom and dustpan for cleaning up after the kiddos. The futon cushion was very comfortable. My biggest issue was one of the spare blankets was messy. We set it conspicuously to the side for housekeeping to address after we checked out. Thankfully, there was plenty of other bedding to accommodate our crew. We plan to return with extended family to enjoy a set of these cabins together next year.

Beautiful sunrise

Check-in was at 4 o’clock. I got there a few minutes after four and they were still cleaning. They told me it would be a little bit longer so I went to check out the town. When I came back, I was able to check in. It was very clean nice cabin with a beautiful view of Lake Huron. You don’t really see the bridge except for the tips of it. you do have to Drive through a seedy looking motel to get to the property. But overall, it was I had a fantastic day. Nice neighbors in the cabins next to me, beautiful sunrises, and you can have a fire on the beach.

We did not end up staying here and did not receive a refund, despite spending much of the day on the phone with Expedia/VRBO and the property management. To get to the cabins (which looked nice enough), you had to drive through a run-down motel with people loitering trash piled up, etc. Really disappointing customer service from the property management representative. She hung up on me. Look for another place to stay!

Too many problems

This cabin was clean and new. Unfortunately, we had constant problems during our three nights there. The appliances weren't plugged in when we arrived; the shower was broken (but got fixed); one of the TVs wasn't programmed (it didn't work correctly the entire time); there was initially no broom to sweep up the sand that inevitably gets in the cabin; there are no places to hang towels or washcloths; no coffee cups or enough dishes; broken futon frame; no side tables in the bedroom. It would probably be helpful if the property owner or manager spent a weekend in the cabin to understand what improvements need to be made. This could be a really nice place with some simple adjustments. The location is great.

Access difficulties

Overall very nice little cabin on the lake. Clean and plenty of room. Had trouble getting in the cabin. The incredibly nice man at the nearby hotel helped us access the room. We were ultimately locked out again and required assistance. The lock was definitely faulty and after a maintenance person was called we were accommodated in an adjacent cabin. So this did occupy a little of our time but ended up fine. Kudos to the helpful men! Unfortunately I failed to get their name so I could properly acknowledge them.

Unhelpful, unresponsive host

We had a plumbing issue on our first night, and had to go to a hotel nearby to get any help. The host was completely unresponsive When I made the reservation, and when I requested an extra day, for the two weeks prior to the stay, And ended up charging us 150% of the nightly price for the extra day when she finally did respond. She never did respond to our request for assistance with the plumbing. Also, there was nothing in the rental to help in keeping it clean. The bugs were terrible inside and out, and there was sand everywhere within a day because we had no way to sweep it out or contain it. Of course, we expect some sand when staying on a beach, but with no way to control it, it was just annoying. Definitely would never rent from this host again.

Cute but Dirty Beach

Let me start by saying we did enjoy the cabin, it was cute and very clean. My only issues with the cabin were the beds are extremely uncomfortable and the water heater was set too hot and we actually were burnt, so use caution. My issue were with the beach and pool area. Thee beach was disgusting… dirty diapers, broken chairs and loungers, random fire pits and littered with trash and no one came to clean up our entire 4 days. The pool was a huge safety hazard and just kind of dirty. My children all got hurt from slipping on the painted floors. No clean towels anywhere just dirty ones thrown everywhere. The property manger sent us one message about check in but never responded to anything after that.

Ok for a Short Stay

We stayed there two nights with our family of five with three children under three. We had arrived late which I communicated to the owner this and arrived to the place not clean. It was late at night with three small children and all we wanted to do is go to sleep. I messaged and called the owner but didn’t get a response until we went to the front desk of the hotel and they were able to reach them. He was nice and apologetic. They did clean it but we couldn’t settle in until an hour after we arrived. It is on the beach so there are a ton of bugs and tons of sand. They do not leave any way to clean up the sand like a broom or vacuum so be ready for sand to be everywhere. There are chairs on the beach but most were broken. It worked for our family for the short stay we had but I wouldn’t stay longer then a few nights.

It was fine but amenities slightly misleading

Pros - the cabin is right on the beach, has beautiful views and was a perfect location for 4th of July fireworks. You don’t have the normal noises associated with staying in a hotel. Cons - location was behind a rundown motel so we weren’t sure we were in the right spot upon arrival. The Wi-Fi was provided by that motel and barely worked half the time. There wasn’t any information provided initially about the amenities, we had to ask how to access them. We didn’t end up using the BOGO coupons as the restaurants had terrible reviews and mentioned recently seeing mice. The water parks and pool also looked dirty from the outside so we skipped those. The beach was only semi private - nothing limited access and it was shared by all hotels nearby. We could not drive up to the entrance. Lastly there were zero towel racks or hooks anywhere in the cabin, not even one for a hand towel in the bathroom.

Had to leave - spider infestation

The cabin and location were ideal, which makes this such an unfortunate situation. When we arrived, there were diapers in the garbage, used soap in the shower, and blood in the sink. The owner was quick to send someone to clean. The entire porch area was infested with spiders. We were told by the person cleaning that they do not manage that. The owner had him come back and sweep, but upon further inspection, the entire inside of the cabin was also infested, including the beds. I tried to contact the owner as it was clear we could not stay. We left and found a hotel nearby. The owner did not contact me until 19 hours later when I sent a second message. I was told that I should be aware there would be spiders because it is a beach cabin. I asked for a partial refund but was denied. I was unaware part of the $2500 included sleeping with spiders... 0 stars.

I read so many reviews before booking this because I loved what I was seeing in the pictures, but was very iffy based on some of the reviews. Given that, I'll try to give a helpful one... -Location: Close to the downtown, close to the ferry, loved that we were right on the beach. It was a beautiful view. It was located, however, behind a questionable motel, which was odd. It made us feel slightly uneasy, but being in the cabin and on the beach felt fine. -Cleanliness: Very clean and looked exactly like the pictures. Spiders/Bugs (based on other reviews)...other than the typical spiders/insects you would get from being on a cabin on a beach I wouldn't say any more then what you would expect. -Check-In/Check-Out Process: We received a code prior to check-in, however it did not work for the cabin we were assigned. We ran into another couple with the same issue. We found that our codes belonged to different cabins. There were no instructions or a welcome binder of some sort left to give us further instructions for what needed to be done prior to check-out. We received the wifi code and some information about the voucher/coupons for the hotel via messenger. -Beach: We loved the convience of the beach with our littles and used it a lot. There were lounge chairs (a bit buggy) and fire pits. We used both. It was a little dirty with some cigarette buds from previous guests, but overall nothing too crazy. Overall, our stay was great. We had a good time. It served us what we needed
