2/10 Terrible

"I did not enjoy my stay here. My room, the bathroom ceiling above shower, had mold and mildew on it. I brought this to concierge attention and they couldn't even put me in another room. They said they would let maintenance know about it, but no one came to inspect it. The breakfast lounge was closed due to "renevations". All guests staying at homewood hotel had to walk over to Hampton Inn hotel for breakfast which was a huge inconvenience. To management, when you see this review and you are in your feelings about what I said, then make sure you take care of the mold and try to have a grab in go breakfast in your own hotel lounge, maybe front desk for guests in the future."

"Arrived at the hotel and while checking in, it was brought to my attention that we needed a credit card to pay a $200 security deposit, don’t have a credit card as I don’t want any debt! This was a huge issue. Offered to give $500 security deposit cash, refused, offered $1000 refused. Had to spend over £100 on a call to transfer funds to my debit card which resulted in stupid fees and a crappy exchange rate. Ridiculous, not everyone has a credit card. Finally checked in, room for 3 guests. 1 bed made up, sofa bed not made up, no sheets, no bedding and no pillows another trek to the reception. 1 sheet, and 1 pillow left! Not a great impression. Told by manager that breakfast was at 6:30am up and ready for it and it’s 7 am, no good for us as we had to leave for our flight. Booked hotel as it stayed free breakfast, pool and Free shuttle No shuttle Pool was okay. Rescued a bug from it then got tangled up in a mighty amount of disgusting hair. Put me right off. Not a pleasant experience for what was a very expensive stay."

"This is by far the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. From the lovely scent when you walk in the building to the friendly staff to every thing you could think of and more in one place I couldn’t love it more. I love it’s outside of the busy downtown but close enough to get anywhere you want too. The walking trail across the street and the outdoor pool were highlights for sure. I was also super impressed you didn’t have to wait long for an elevator if at all."

"If you're looking for a BASIC stay that is clean and a lower price, this place is for you. There really are no amenities other than what has become standard, i.e. free WIFI. This hotel is on an EXTREMELY busy highway. I did get a room on a somewhat sheltered side so I didn't hear the traffic.There was sidewalk construction so it was difficult to walk to the shopping mall across the road. The staff was helpful but I had to inquire a couple of times to get someone to come to my room and get the WIFI & TV to work properly on my first night. Be prepared to leave $200 CAD deposit for smoking. I don't smoke so that was really annoying and then I had to physically swipe my credit card to get my deposit back upon checkout. REALLY INCONVENIENT. They should have designated non-smoking rooms & not take a deposit. But their policy may speak to a clientele that will vape or smoke & cause problems. Another issue was their demand that I pay a surcharge for another day when I had spoken to their staff when I first checked in that I would probably stay another day. On that "extra" day, I had to strongly advocate that I would NOT be paying a surcharge when I had already informed them that I would most likely stay another day. The owner happened to be standing there so he approved the NO surcharge. If he wasn't there, I'm sure it would have been a bigger fight. All in all, it's basic. It's clean. It's inexpensive. The staff is nice enough. It's a 2 star hotel so you get what you pay for."
