"Charming hotel with in the perfect location for exploring Buxton and the area, gorgeous character features, spacious room four poster a nice touch, loved the old oak furniture, spotlessly clean, fluffy towels and Elemis toiletries. The dining area is a bit plain and we were let down by the steak albeit it steak night, but the management sorted it out without quibble. Breakfast, breakfast was excellent, what's more the waitresses were all lovely and friendly. Enjoyed our stay and would go back.."

"The room was spotless and equipped with everything we needed. The kitchenette was particularly useful, with all the essentials provided, and the bathroom was exceptionally clean as well-credit to the Housekeeping team! The shared areas were equally well-maintained and had a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were very friendly, especially the lady who checked us in. The location is very convenient, with plenty of dining options nearby and a supermarket just across the road. We’ve often stayed in hotels that look modern and clean in photos but don’t live up to expectations-this was not the case here. The hotel exceeded our expectations in every way and offered excellent value for money. We would definitely stay here again."

"Be aware that there is clearly a big renovation project taking place. Our room had clearly had the room done but the bathroom, although spotless, was old. Our children’s room was the opposite. The two rooms although sold at the same price were entirely different sizes and one of the rooms had obviously been split from its neighbour with a bit of cardboard the soundproofing was so poor. It’s a beautiful old building so we know it won’t be perfect. It has loads of personality, is in a fab location, is spotless throughout and the breakfast was great. It’s perfect for a night but just not convinced it is 4*."

"Disgusting value for money, avoid at all costs! What was meant to be a romantic trip for my fiances 50th ended up being a total let down. The hotel has issues spanning from the plumbing to general cleanliness and is going to take a considerable outlay if they ever expect the place to get any guests - far too many to mention here anyway. My main issues was with our room, as it was nearly £100 a night. Firstly the whole place is like a sauna...combine that with stale oil smell and it is very off-putting. Opening the window is fine, but we had a mountain view, so it was on the front next to the road and far too loud to sleep with wide open. The king bed had an indentation in it which made you feel like you was falling to one side - Very uncomfortable. The room next door was occupied with what I believe to be the owners family. Kids shouting at 7am with walls so thin, I could hear every single word they said when talking normally! Broken furniture, dirt and grime everywhere, portable heaters on the floor and extention cables and many many many other issues which I would expect in a Benidorm B&B, not here! "

"Lovely hotel, great spa facilities, lovely room, with some noise as the bottles from nearby bars and restaurants are emptied when your room is at the back of the hotel. You do have to pay extra at the hotel when using the spa facilities if your booking is through Expedia. This is £40 per day, which is not made obvious at all. Parking is on the street, of £30 per day at the hotel. But street parking along the Crescent is free. "
