"We decided on same day to book this hotel last minute as had just arrived back to Manchester airport and wanted to extend holiday time a day longer. We wanted somewhere within range of the Peak District with a pool and Spa facilities etc and De Vere Cranage estate came up in the search looking like it fitted the bill. It didn't disappoint. Scenic well maintained grounds and good parking on arrival. Quick check in with friendly professional staff. Room was a double on lower floor. Decent size comfortable bed and pillows. Large tv, good wifi, safe, fan, additional heater, iron and board. Tea/coffee making facilities with biscuits etc. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room plus extensive gym facilities which are complementary for guests and open from around 07:30 till 20:00 which is good. Very hot sauna and steam room which is what I always hope for. All nice and clean as well. Keypad lockers you just enter a four digit sequence of your choice twice to set it. (I had to ask a guest to show me as hadn't paid attention) We had a fantastic lovely sunny day and warm evening there so we watched the sunset in a cloudless sky in the grounds along with others. Breakfast was very good although we arrived at peak time so was busy. A good range on offer that I can't fault at all. I will most certainly use this hotel when in the area again and give it 10 out of 10. "

"Ideal for a large family gathering with the indoor pool the obvious highlight. However the property was very tired with a lot of problems which continued throughout the stay. The standard of cleaning was awful. I spoke to the hosts wife to highlight the dog poo on the lawn in at least 3 places, the fact I wasn’t given an exit code to get out of the gates, the electric socket hanging off the wall in the lounge with wires exposed. There were far too many problems to keep ringing about so I listed them all to the host but have had no reply. Other issues, empty beer bans and bottles in the garden, pizza oven outside like a large ashtray, BBQ not cleaned for ages with congealed meat hanging off the grill and filthy tongs left. A foul smelling drain in the garden that had been covered with a piece of garden furniture. Inside 2 bedroom radiators not working one which was leaking. The washing machine leaked water everywhere, Upstairs shower not working and bath plug stuck in, no soap anywhere, no information as to how to work oven and microwave, or how to work the pool water feature or the hot tub and projector. All in all very disappointing for the high cost of rental "

"Perfect house for a large family get together at Christmas. Cosy all weekend, the hot tub was a real treat and the children loved saying hello to the donkeys! Thank you for a lovely weekend and for being such accommodating hosts."

"A disaster from the get go, first there was no one at reception, none of the three numbers displayed on the reception door were answering. After many attempts we managed to get though to someone who literally said he was unable to help us. After half an hour of wait and worry, a young lady passed by and whom we asked for assistance. Thankfully, even though she wasn't a member of staff, she manged to direct us to a room (room17) and provided us with towels. The whole room was dirty and there was an obvious lack of upkeep as there were cobwebs everywhere, the bathroom door would not open nor close hence a lack of privacy. To make matters worse we were rudely awaken at half past midnight, with very heavy banging on the door by the supposed owner who unprofessionally demanded to know who we were and that we were in the wrong room. when nobody was there to reception us in the first place. The second night was not much better, this time there was door banging on next to us round 5am then they proceeded to carry out some works round 6. All in all a terrible experience and we never once ended up seeing a member of staff. I shall be grateful if you could guide us to were we could log in a complaint as I would like a full refund"
