Beachcomber Cottage, Waternish

Beachcomber cottage is a traditional fisherman's cottage next door to the Michelin star restaurant "LochBay", run by Michael Smith. It is also a minute's walk from the "Stein Inn" that celebrity chef Paul Rankin took over in 2019.
The accommodation warmly welcomes you with it's coal fire and traditional interior. There are 2 bedrooms, one shower room, and a kitchen/diner too, all that is needed for a very comfortable stay here on Skye.
Benefitting from a private garden to the front, across the road, heading down to the shore, facing west so sunsets here can be spectacular.
Waternish has a dark skies area where, on occasions when the atmospheric conditions are right, you can see the Aurora Borealis.
Come see for yourself!

A great cosy cottage in a beautiful location and only a few meters from a great pub The Stein Inn. The cottage was clean, easy to check in and had everything you’d need, even a fireplace. Would love to stay again.

We fell in love with Beechcomber cottage. Stunning location and the beautiful garden was perfect in the sunshine ( That we weren't expecting... even in July 😂) Very private with lovely garden furniture and the perfect views to the sea. The decor was to a high standard and in keeping with the cottage. Everything we needed was there which made our stay so easy and pleasant. Beautiful bed linen, towels and lovely toiletries. Looking forward to booking up again.

Beachcomber Cottage is a great property in a wonderful location on Skye. It has a good layout and is very well equipped. Externally there is a garden with outdoor furniture and ample parking. There is a quality restaurant and Inn within easy walking distance. We will visit again.

We had the best time at this cottage! It is adorable, comfortable, and in the perfect location. It was myself, and my three adult children, and it was the perfect location to call home while exploring Skye.

Beachcomber cottage is a charming and very well appointed accommodation within doors of 2 of the best restaurants Skye has to offer. The place was spotless, warm and very comfortable and the Waternish Peninsula area is both beautiful and a little less well trafficked part of the island. We would highly recommend both.

enjoyed proximity to Stein Inn, wasn’t aware that there were so few eating establishments close by, but we wouldn’t have changed anything. it rained the whole 3 days so we stayed inside and made a fire with all the supplies provided. Would recommend bringing groceries as the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to make a meal or two.

Beautiful cottage set right on the shore equipped with everything you could need for a perfect stay on Skye! We chose this beautiful place for a base to explore Neist, Storr, Quiraing and more as it was ideally located with most places 35-45 minutes away. Portree is also around a 30 minutes drive. The cottage itself was cosy, warm and spacious enough for 4 adults. The lounge and fireplace was welcomed after hiking around the island all day. We would highly recommend this place and would 100% stay again!

Quaint cottage directly on the Loch Bay. Clean and comfortable. Garden with seating and table. Stone beach with water access. Found many pieces of colorful pottery and glassware! There are two restaurants, one is Loch Bay which is Michelin awarded. Weeks wait to get a reservation. The other is Stein. Reservations suggested. No other food, so stop at a Co-O prior to arriving!

Friends and I stayed at the Beachcomber for 3 nights of a 2 week trip in Scotland. Honestly, I would have been happy to spend the whole 2 weeks here. The stay was one of the highlights of the trip with the charming location, local history, surprising restaurant choices from historic inn to Michelin Star and gift shop with items by local artists. The cottage was over the top charming as well, with equipped kitchen, lots of info on surrounding area, clean, comfortable, can't say enough good things. I will happily return if possible!

A lovely cottage in an excellent location.. Beautiful views of the shore( telescope provided). We were part of a terrace of traditional cottages alongside a pub, a craft shop/ gallery and a restaurant and there were lots of divers coming and going - so plenty going on. The kitchen was well designed and very well equipped . There was no file in the cottage to explain where things wwere. Because of this, we didn't discover the lovely garden across the road until our last day. And we spent some time searching for oven gloves andall of which were there, but that is the only quibble.AThe cottage was very well equipped and avbeautiful0place to return to after enjoying the wonderful landscapes of tSkyye. Mary An ideal place for people who want to be in beautiful surroundings? I really liked the decor And there are some beautiful pictures on the walls.

Absolutely loved the cottage and location. When the weather turned quite cool, the lounge room heating wasn’t operating at all so we replied to their welcome email with two messages for help. Received no reply. Everything else was wonderful.

This is a great VRBO! The cottage is set within a row of traditional fishermen’s cottages. The historical old cottages, although outfitted with modern amenities, provide a perfect backdrop for the serene picture perfect setting. The sunsets here are truly breathtaking and just being here makes you exhale all stress. The private gated garden which goes to the waterfront is wonderful too. A wonderful surprise is being next door to a Michelin star restaurant (also residing in one of the fisherman’s cottages). We were lucky to be able to eat here (get reservations in advance..Loch Bay). The food was perfectly prepared and presented in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Also a couple doors down in another of the fisherman’s cottages is the Stein Inn which has the oldest pub in Skye with a great traditional pub atmosphere and good food/drink. The host, Cat, was great! We had one small issue at check-in but Cat was quick to respond and we were grateful! We loved our stay and wish we could have stayed longer!

The property is very well kept, well-appointed dishes and appliances, bathroom is nice, bedrooms are nice. But this note is particularly for Americans traveling in summer: The house has no A/C nor does it have any fans. This is not an issue in other seasons, but if you catch a summer that is warmer than usual (increasingly frequent in Scotland now), then it could be an issue. House owners there have not yet adapted to this fact, so this means almost no place has A/C or fans to assist with air movement. Bring your own portable battery powered fan. Secondly, the village of Stein is very remote by most American standards. Be prepared to navigate single track roads to get there, and bring in food at least for breakfast: there are 2 restaurants in Stein, but no store. Closest stores are in Portree or Dunvegan. It's a beautiful place and we enjoyed our time there; we just needed a fan...
