Breakfast and dinner were included in our package, and the food was fabulous and very authentic. "I’ve been to many capsules across Japan and my stay here was at the too. Yes, I’ve stayed in Kyoto, Osaka, but wanted to spend a few days in Ōtsu and experience a slower pace and so glad I did! The reviews on Google and Orbitz rated The Calendar high so I gave it a try and I was not disappointed. However, I do need to mention if you are sensitive to smell you might notice the slight scent of smoke. The entire capsule is non-smoking, however there is a smoking room, that when smokers return it might linger with them. To me, I only noticed the first hour at check-in and after that I didn’t notice anything. The good? How about everything else! No elevator so if you have two luggage you might need to make two trips, but the steps you are greeted by a very popular Italian restaurant which is part of the hotel. The staff is friendly, professional and will make your stay pleasant. The bed is somewhat on the thin side and pillow non-existent, but overall I had no issues falling asleep. In your capsule you do have a TV but good luck finding anything with subtitles lol. The bathrooms and showers are modern and clean, The common area very spacious and relaxed. The bonus is it’s at the entrance/exit of the JR train station! Biwa Lake a 10-minute walk away. So if in Ōtsu looking to get away from the crowds I highly suggest a stay at The Calendar. I stayed for two nights and felt recharged going back to Osaka. 10-stars! Arigatō! "
